Cisco VPN Client inside a virtual machine

I work from home half the times and use my main desktop when I do work from home. I created a virtual machine to put all my work specific applications in and run the virtual machine in VMware Workstation instead of cluttering up my main desktop (especially helps if I reformat, can just save the virtual machine hard disk file).

I am trying to get Cisco VPN to work inside the virtual machine so I can VPN into my works VPN to get some files off the file share, access the SharePoint, etc. I am running Cisco VPN client 5.0.0.7.0290. I can not get it to connect at all. It keeps stalling out. I believe it something with the VPN network adapter not working properly. Anyone have any experience with getting VPN Client to work inside a virtual machine? Any ideas and why it could possibly be? I have used VPN Client insides virtual machines before, so I know its possible.
 
you probably checked, but make sure the VM is using bridged network rather than NAT using the host IP ?

Yep, the MTU is also set 1300. Saw some articles when researching this issue saying to verify the MTU is set to 1300. It was be default so I didnt have to make the change.

I keep getting a "Reason 442: Failed to enable Virtual Adapter" There is a virtual network adapter in Network Connections for the Cisco VPN Client and it says its enabled, however, nothing is assigned to it in the Support tab, and when I look at the statically assigned IP address, there is no default gateway assigned but there is an IP, Subnet Mask, and DNS address assigned.

EDIT: Hmmm believe it may be because im using Server 2003 as the OS.

I ditched the Cisco client about a year ago and started using ShrewSoft VPN Client. It can import Cisco .pcf files so the configuration should be a cinch for you . I run it inside of a VM regularly and it works fine.
 
I can concur the Cisco VPN client doesn't like server OS's. I couldn't get it going on Server 2003 either, though I got XP in a Virtualbox VM with the Cisco VPN running perfectly.
