Hi,

I am looking for a decent heatsink w/ fan for an i5-2300 since it will be in a fairly small case.

Here are the other components that will be in the case and may possibly restrict the size or get in the way of the heatsink:
- Antec nsk3480 [(L x W x H) 14.00" x 7.75" x 13.75"]
- Asus ASUS P8H67-M LX (REV 3.0)
- Gskill eco 2x2gb- Sapphire 5670
- WD Green 1tb
- intel 320 80gb ssd

Priorities:
- QUIET
- Cool
- No overclocking (not even sure it's possible on the non-k version anyway)
- No water cooling solutions

I am looking to buy in the next day or so.

I figure I could get something fairly decent for $50, maybe less?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Edit: And is arctic silver 5 still the recommended thermal paste?

Cocage TRUE Spirit or Thermalright AXP-140 RT.

It's still good. But if you want to buy a new tube then you should try Thermalright Chill Factor 3 or Noctua NT-H1.

cooler master hyper 212+ can be found for under 40 bucks and will work with that processor since it can't be overclocked. i also second the noctua NT-H1 thermal paste silent knight suggested. been using it for years and love it.

After seeing a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 inside an Antec nsk3480 (here) on silentpcreview, I decided to purchase one. It also includes the Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound you two recommended so I needn't purchase a tube of paste separately.

I got it for just under $60 shipped at Directron (I clicked through a Directron link in the hotdeals section before adding to cart so I would assume hardocp gets the referral or whatever it's called).

good heatsink choice, definitely more then you actually need for that processor but will work fine.
