How can I maintain or bypass my FiOS Modem/Router

We had FiOS installed a few days ago, and I wasn't home for the installation (Someone else was). The installer used coax instead of ethernet from the ONT. Is there any way I could use their modem router as just a modem so that it doesn't do DHCP and all of that other stuff? I would prefer to use my own router and eventually hook up a untangle of pfSense router.

Guess I gotta live with it since I have TVs with FiOS... thanks for the link!

I have the same problem. i was thinking because it is really just feeding internet to the STB it could be possible to use a MoCa to Ethernet box connected to your own router providing a connection to the STB, then possibly getting another one and connecting it as well to feed internet in to the router, just have to find what frequency the two run on.

i dont know if this would work or not but it could be a possibility.
