Duke Nukem Forever Demo Released

I really wouldn't be complaining about the demo. Footage of other area's of the gameworld have been shown and it has a lot of variety and flavor. Also, keep in mind that Gearbox basically took something in complete disarray and shipped it. At least we have something because the game wouldn't of survived another reboot.

You still have 4 weapons at any time in the game (if you count Pipe Bombs and Trip Mines). I don't care for how the weapons are scattered around the game world, rather than being found, but I think that's just a result of the maturing of FPS's, not that it makes it easier to accept though.

It's 2011. Duke 3D was released in 1996. Some things are going to change. I'm surprised more hasn't.

12 years in development and we should be hoping they are showing of an earlier build in the demo or something? Or somehow more polish was applied since the demo code was finalized? Or that the demo showed the most boring parts of the game? Somehow I don't think so at all.

This game will most likely be a disaster. The only thing that will keep it from completely failing is the nostalgia.

From what I've read this "demo" has been around quite while in the same form.

I know it's just a hope. I bought the game in pre-order and honestly I'm so starved for anything new, even this lackluster game sounds like fun.:eek:
 
If the game was great they would not hide the demo behind a preorder.

This worries me. :(
 
I have a feeling the full game will be a fun ride just simplistic by today’s FPS standards. Oh hold on that’s Modern Warfare never mind. Should be another AAA shooter for the console crowd!

Regenerating healt in FPS have been there since 2000-2001. I didn't play any FPS in the last 5 years that didn't have that or some sort of 'SHIELD'...

Anyway, the game look ok, nothing to it it's head around.. but still is Duke! Replys are funny..

I was talking about Duke having regen health and the weapon limit. I mean in all regards it is Duke 3D, just with updated graphics, the AI seems about the same.
 
Played the demo.
It was everything I expected it to be.
I will not be purchasing this game until it shows up on a Steam sale for about $5.
 
I'm not sure about this demo. It was slow, all the weapons felt samey, there was only 3 enemies (2 bosses and about 12 pigs) and the whole thing was extremely short (even with it paused 50% of the time because I was having lunch I clocked 27 minutes, so it must have been about 13, and at least 2 of those were spent in the menus. I'm sure the main game will (or should be) much much better than this, but it felt like a fan made mod of another game. Was going to pre order the game, but this demo has made me less sure...hopefully they are going to do a proper version or something...
 
What happen to the good old days of the complete first level as a demo/shareware with a notification if you wanna play past this point, buy now?
 
I will buy when it is $10. Crazy it took them that long to make that.
