I'm telling you, this stuff just isn't going to end for Sony until the hackers simply get tired of making the company look stupid and move on to another target. Who knows how long the will take.

A tweet issued by the group, going by the name LulzSec, says "Hey @Sony, you know we're making off with a bunch of your internal stuff right now and you haven't even noticed? Slow and steady, guys."

I wonder if they actually managed to get in again or if this is just a bunch of hot air.

Sounds like anyone could have said something similar. I would be surprised if others have not, and just no one has noticed. Seems stupid to take credit for something like this anyway. Pretty sure you don't have anyone on your side when you start stealing peoples money/ credit cards. Ego is exactly how most criminals get caught.

why exactly hasnt any police type action being taken on said hackers....they are all publishing hey im hacking sony...blah blah blah

why dont the cops go in and arrest their dumb asses so the rest of us honest folks can get our game on

I'm not very surprised. Even I'm at the point that I'm starting to feel a little bad for them (Sony)

Hopefully they've learned something from all of this

Scare tactic. If you want to hurt a company, you kick them while they are down. In Sony's case they are probably paranoid about security right now and this will probably cause them to spend/lose money in many area's just to make sure no one is in their system, not to mention another fall out from customers.

Person who tweeted probably isn't even part of the group of hackers who did this.

What's up with you all?

I hope sony loses millions over this whole fiasco.

Don't forget why this all started. Sony suing Geohot and fail0verflow for jailbreaking the PS firmware.

Sony is trying to say that it is NOT your right to do with your product as you see fit.

Meaning, even though you own the iphone/playstation/OS...etc. You may not alter it either PHYSICALLY or DIGITALLY. Think: white skins for iphone and jailbreak for firmware.

So Fuck Sony and fuck any other organization suing the people for doing with their products as they please.

Pissing rain outside but this story makes it seem sony outside. Who ever you guys are;) keep doing what your doing to help get sony's house in order. May sony never RIP.:)

Because I bought my system to play some games and not to read a circus news because some people are pissed they have to pay for their games as opposed to getting free shit like they want. Sony is doing shit to protect not just itself but also the people who develop games for them or publishers.

Well, Iran is working on their own country wide intranet to replace the Internet. Maybe that will pique their interests more than Sony soon?

Wow, Sony's really getting it.
Guess they shouldn't have put a stopper on PS3 homebrew, who knew it would cost them more?

Oh yeah great idea. Lets solve it all with some revenge. That's working for Palestine and Israel huh? That always worked for social movements that succeeded in the past right? Not to mention we'll fuck over millions of innocent people just to prove that point, by leaking their personal information as well as keeping PSN down. Why bother trying to change the legal system that allows the types of product control that Sony was exerting? Why try to change it in a meaningful way when we can sit in the basement and fondle ourselves at the pure geekjoy of "sploiting".

Get a clue guy.

Yup sounds like sony to me Couldn't have said it better.

I agree with Steve's comment that this likely won't stop until they get bored with beating on Sony and find a new target to abuse. They need to move on. Based upon this thread, the gamers are starting to fracture and not all side with them already - not what they need.

Besides, they've made their point, so they can move on to more constructive targets (Iran, etc.). Few in the free world will object to that.

People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.

replace "government" with "corporation" and this statement still applies.

I should be free to do as I please with my products, not afraid to break the rules and get sued by a greedy corporation.

Hopefully Sony will serve as an example to other corporations so we can all avoid these frivolous lawsuits and annoying downtime.

FTR: I own a PS3 and am also inconvenienced by this.

This is the same group that hacked PBS yesterday and put up a fake story about Tupac being alive and living in New Zealand.

If only of the hackers had an illegal copy of the Hurt Locker on their hard drives they would be in a Bolivian prison before lunch.

Do you job law enforcement!

Ok do me a favor...invent something... and then sell it - while trying to actually make money

Then have people Hack into your business and steal from you, realizing that they arent just stealing from you, but regular people out there who work a daily grind and have kids to feed and a mortgage to pay.

So now you will lose customers and worse yet the people who actually go out and buy this stuff cant now because their identity has been stolen because you think its someone else's right to mod something?

Im all for fighting the good fight but saying its a good thing to let criminals steal customer data who in turn not only hurts the company but the end user...

Makes no sense to me - i guess you cant complain then when someone steals your car because they didnt like your posts....

I don't agree with everything that was done. The personal data should have been kept as collateral, not released.

Sure, the hackers may not be perfect, but they get their point across well.

And please, take my car, it't about 100K miles past it's prime.

I bet they're not doing anything and just trying to worry Sony's part-time intern who they have handling all their network security .

Again, reads like sony to me. Google "sony charged with price fixing" and after you spend a week reading how they think of you as a customer, come back and tell us you still think the same way about sony as a company.

So because Sony is a big faceless company that does big faceless company things, it's okay for people to steal our information, identities, and cause us a lot of inconvenience? I don't think so.

If you don't like Sony, don't buy their shit. Your rights begin and end there. You don't get the right to go around stealing peoples customer data and selling it.

It's not that it's ok, it's that almost nobody sympathizes with Sony. I mean, there are a few people here and there on the internet going "Aw, why are those big mean hackers picking on this poor little multibillion dollar corporation whose executives make dozens of times what the people doing the real work make", but there are far more people who don't care for the corporation at all.

My teenage angst and jealousy justifies the hacking and information stealing, etc.

Down with the man! Fuck the system!

Yeah, OK, whatever.

Sony is a shit company run by douche-bags. To the people hacking them, please continue. Do it again, and again, and again.

Not sympathizing with Sony should not preclude condemning these attacks. Criticizing Sony for poorly protecting customer information and handling the situation is fair. Criticizing Sony for questionable business practices and ethics is fair. However, how is cheering on groups/individuals who are ultimately victimizing innocent third parties primarily for personal gain (mostly financial)?

I don't give a shit about Sony either, but it's regular joes getting hurt in the process. Hackers could kill and eat your family and you'd still praise them.

Yeah, like that has worked in the past as well

I agree. I don't care so much that Sony is getting hacked, because they sort of deserve it with such lax security and arguably shady business practices. But right now it is consumers that seem to be the target in these (attempts to take their personal info and passwords/CC #s)

Has absolutely nothing at all to do with that.

Wonder if this would fall under the Pentagons new listing, for a type of attack that's considered an act of war?

"today's winner of the hacker lottery is L33TZG0TZKR4BZ, aka little Jim 15 of Nantucket, he'll be receiving a free live and armed Hellfire, via airmail any second, next up the winner of the international bonus cluster bomb".

Seriously it's complete wankers like nutsacs or whoever their name is, that are bringing down the console market for everyone, and they wonder why DRM is an ever expanding issue for console gamers, your not helping guys, Geohotz didn't even own a PS3, so it wasn't for his own entertainment, just profit, it will become a subscription service at this rate, full of DRM BS.

I don't care what anyone else does with their console, as long as it doesn't bother me, Sony shouldn't have pulled an Apple move and claimed what you bought is still their property nonsense, and Geohotz shouldn't have been tinkering with an OS, he was intending to use on something he didn't own anyway.

Hey guess what, murdering a thief is still murder. Robbing a thief, and that thief's victims, is still theft, Do some of you really just not get this?

They are not going to be remembered for why they attacked Sony, only that they committed cyber crimes against Sony and it's customers. There will be no positive change from this. I suspect it will soon be pointed to as an excuse to tighten government regulations.censorship on the internet.

Once they responded with an act of cyber terrorism, nobody really cared why they supposedly took up the role of criminal or terrorist. The common man just assumes it's a bunch of butt hurt basement dwellers. Just like they assume it is just some Muslim extremist that hate us cause we are not Muslim anytime something gets blown up.
