Not sure if this counts, since I don't know if this is just a launch promo or standard, but the very cool indie game Frozen Synapse at Steam is 20% off for $19.99 and giving two copies when you buy one. The second is sent to whomever you like.
Only a couple of reviews out so far such as Eurogamer.net (9/10). I got it and have been playing for a couple of days, and recommend it. My very brief take on it:
There is a small learning curve at first, since it is a bit unusual, but we're talking 15 mins after doing the tutorial. It is turn-based and action reminded me a bit of the board game Axis and Allies in that you plot out 20-25 seconds in advance what your guys are going to do, and the opponent does the same. You then see what happens and who planned or anticipated best. The first turns as you get a handle on the basics can go slowly, but soon you'll be playing turns very quickly, and it becomes a lot of fun.
Main points:
- I like the simple TRON-ish graphics. Very cool.
- It has a campaign I have only started, but every mission is subject to a random generator for the maps.
- Big replayability because of the random generator.
- You can play online very easily, as well as watch games already played (showing the commands given by the players too BTW.)
Well worth the $10 spent IMHO.
