Let me give you a timeline:

BF2 - June 2005
COD4:MW - Nov 2007

Nobody said BF2 would be a COD killer because there was no COD to kill yet.
To clarify, Call of Duty was mildly popular. Call of Duty 2 was somewhat more popular than 1. Call of Duty:OU expansion about the same. Call of Duty 3 (Treyarch) was not as popular as 2. The game that made COD into a wildly popular massive selling game was Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare.

And for this thread....I have to agree, the engine is dated. Trailer action isn't bad but so much of that is scripted and the explosions are terrible. I would consider buying this for the SP only, but given the crap that MW2 was I don't have much faith.

I have played all of the PC single players. I never enjoyed the MP in the series till MW1 came around. I didn't play MW2 online due to lack of dedicated servers nor did I pay for the game. That was one of two game that I have ever pirated so yeah. I felt the point got across and once again I go back to buying the game for SP.

Tell me why that matters and I will tell you how old I am. Here, better yet I will explain why i've probably never heard of BF2. Not everyone on this forum plays PC games all the time. I know this may come as a surprise to you but some of us play console games. I used to only play PC games until halo 2 came out, then I got hooked on console FPS gaming, I never even bothered with PC FPS's after 2004. The only games I play on PC's are MMOs and RTS games. FPS's to me are better played on a console for multiplayer.

Does that clear things up for you?

Maybe I am just easy to please too but I thought the graphics seemed decent. It looked like there might be a few semi-fun/interesting gameplay angles depending on how much is 'playable' and how much is 'non-interactive in-game sequences'. (In regards to the Single Player campaign which is all I usually play in COD games. Multiplayer, I prefer BF:BC2, etc.)

It did seem like a lot of it seemed to be cutscenes though. I'd have liked a Modern Warfare 3 trailer with at least 30 seconds of solid gameplay through inbetween the 'huurrray!' cutscenes.

Come on, BF2 was a PC to Console port and a crappy one at that. BFBC2 is a much more involved game than CoD ever could dream of being, and BF3 is based on the Havoc 2 engine which will destroy the shit IW is using (is it even fair to call them IW, more like the scabs that cross picket lines). Don't get me wrong, I like the CoD series (I actually like BLOPS game play the best) and own several of the games, but MW2 just sucked with all the noob perks, kinda like they tried too hard. I as others will not be in line on release night for MW3, but I will be in line for BF3, this game will expand on BF2 (PC version) and BFBC2 with innovation, not retreading the same old tire.

Wow, you guys are harsh...
So what, it's an old engine...but it works just fine IMO.

I'm more interested in the story line and the MP capabilities. We know the graphics will be good, maybe not as good as BF3, but close I'll bet. The thought of having maps made in real world cities has me interested.

Hate if you want, I'm gonna get it.
 
The trailer just screams to have Team America theme song playing in the background.
