The facts and figures are in and the Guinness Book of World Records has published the winners. There should be no real surprises to anyone who is a frequent internet user to see the iPhone, the App Store, and Angry Birds prominently represented.

The new Guinness World Records® 2011 Gamer's Edition has stepped in to put an official stamp on many of the amazing app and sales stories that have made headlines over the past four years.

They should track longest time between showering for a MMORPG player.

I sometimes worry about the youth of this country.

"Of the apps currently available, 61 are flatulence simulators, a genre that includes such masterpieces as Fart Machine, Fart Ocarina and iFart - Epic Rip Edition," the organization said.

It's not "Guinness worthy" to base records on the popularity of products.

Then there's the issue of the fairness of their categories. E.g. comparing the Apple App Store (the exclusive iPhone provider of little programs) with Steam (a non-exclusive PC game distributor with hundreds of games better than anything sold in the Apple App Store). Or, counting a smartphone (which is sold as a phone) with dedicated portable game systems (which are sold as gaming systems).
