ASUS VW266H 25.5" 1920x1200, 2ms LCD Monitor - $249.99 shipped ar

Doesn't Asus have the 3 year quick exchange warranty for all their monitors? It is amazing they're the only one who does this.

Asus has one of the highest in the monitor industry, yes, 3 years warranty for MOST of their monitors. Viewsonic also is about the same and meets their quality standards and warranty (and viewsonic has an awesome reputation and dead pixel policy on most of theirs). I don't think I would choose any other monitor companies just based on that and my experiences with both brands.

I have 3 of these in eyefinity and they look great. Any of my friends who have sat down at my computer are in jaw dropping awe. No one has said "meh, looks like poo should have gone IPS"

Personally it was all I could do to pay for 3 of these let alone drop 3k+ on a triple IPS setup. It reminds me of the people who crap on the $200 celeron laptop threads. "This isn't hot I can buy a way better laptop for $500"

No ones really right or wrong here. Yes IPS is better. Yes TN is cheaper. Bamn /thread

EDIT: Just noticed the argument I commented on was a month old. <-----Fail.

It's very a much a "you won't know it until you see it" situation. These are good monitors for the price. But the brightness levels and color consistency can't compete with IPS. If you are on a budget, the solution is simple: don't spend time with an IPS, and you won't have any regrets.

This monitor is no longer available at best buy or tiger direct. A rep at TD said they don't show any activity on this monitor, and it my be discontinued. Can anyone confirm?

If confirmed discontinued, is there a 16:10 equivalent replacement from ASUS?

Edit: Found this post in a search but see now this is the wrong forum for this question. Will repost in Displays.

Hmm. I have two, want a third. With them going out of stock everywhere I wonder if I should try to buy one now or just hope I can get one used at a later date

Really hate to see 1920x1200 dying :(
Maybe that will make my two's value skyrocket! :)

its 2ms, lowest input lag you could get basically for any monitor

says it in the first link, in the first post also. no problems at all with input lag

You obviously have no idea know what input lag is, as evidenced by your referencing pixel response time, so why are you responding to questions about input lag specs so authoritatively?

Because they go together like bread and jam....
If you have a high response time, like say 15ms, then you will surely get some input lag as well.
"LCD screens with a high response time value often do not give satisfactory experience when viewing fast moving images (They often leave streaks or blur; called ghosting). But an LCD screen with both high response time and significant input lag is unsuitable for playing fast paced computer games or performing fast high accuracy operations on the screen due to the mouse cursor lagging behind. Manufacturers only state the response time of their displays and do not inform customers of the input lag value." --difference

Who cares.... this monitor has neither high input lag, or high response time (unless you are a monitor nazi and contradict this with super tech mumbojumbo or compare it to a $500+ monitor), so yeah, who cares.

I have three of these in NVSurround myself and they are GREAT looking monitors...

Looks like I may have gotten the last three available, as they were out of stock after my order (ordered from SuperBiiz.com), and I haven't been able to find them anywhere else for a buddy that saw my setup and wanted to duplicate it...

I was using one of these up until just last week. Very nice monitor and I liked the larger pixel size on the 25.5" monitor at 1920x1200. It worked well as an extended desktop for my dell u2311h. I was lucky to snag 2 NEC EA231 for $335 total so now I'm using eyefinity and I don't really have any regrets. Resale value for this monitor is also pretty good. The difference between the colors on this and an ips is very noticeable though.

I play a lot of different gaming genres, but if I cloned the displays I never noticed any difference in ghosting from the slower response times between this and an ips even in fps.

For $250 or even less you should be able to get a good ips on sale, which is what I'd pick.

Do you have any pictures of these setup in NVSurround?

Again, you have no idea what the hell input lag is. Please stop referring to it until you do. You're only helping to further the stupid surrounding display specs.

shut your supertechmumbojumbo hole!

Come on. This is not necessary.

I got a Planar 27" 1080p instead of this and kinda think that was a bad decision, i love 16:10 monitors for comps. The Planar is great for the price I paid, but i think the VW266H would have been better for a little more. But I thought the 16:9 would be better for HD movies. I have heard good stuff about this monitor and 16:10 is a dying breed unfortunately.

What is the general consensus on this monitor's image quality versus the ASUS VW266H, an ASUS VE276Q or a newer monitor such as the Samsung BX2450?

Would you guys consider a Dell Ultrasharp U2311H to have a quick enough response for first-person shooters?

I currently use this monitor (Asus VW266H) and am getting a U2311H in a couple days, so I'll let you know then.

That said, this is a great monitor for a great price if you are one of those people who actually care about 16:10. It's been a great gaming monitor for me, however I'm a little disappointed in the viewing angles, since I sit about 1-2 feet from the monitor, it's large enough that the coloration/contrast on the top of the screen is different than that at the bottom due to the TN panel viewing angles. It's not a huge deal, but is definitely noticeable if you're doing something with a lot of black.

I've never noticed any ghosting with this display, though I will say that something is weird about the Overdrive setting. At anything higher than 40 (it goes 0-100 by increments of 20) I will get weird, multicolored "ghosting" when moving around in certain situations. Not sure what is going on there, but it's something to note. Set at 40 I haven't noticed any anomolies at all.

Quite frankly for the price and the size of this display, it's a steal overall. HDMI and speakers is a great extra, too. The speakers aren't great but are usable if you want to watch TV/movies on it without a whole speaker setup nearby.

Maverick, how is the VW266 compared to the new U2311H?

Lightspeed, or barely noticeable?

well, i loved mine, for the 4 months i had it, the dvi port died last week. it's gone back to the mother ship for repair. so far i'm impressed with their rma service.

Sorry, forgot about this thread, lol. I got the U2311H awhile back, though I did have to return it twice to get a properly working one (first one died two days into use with a random rapid power cycling issue, and the second one had a massive yellow discoloration on the lower left corner (see the U2311H thread in the Display forum for info/pics on that)) but now it's working great, and I have to say I much prefer the U2311H for just about everything. There is maybe a tiny bit of ghosting on the U2311H but it is not noticeable in FPS games, mostly if you have a black background and a pure white moving object you can kind of see a tiny bit of ghosting. I've played several fast FPS games and have never noticed a difference in ghosting between the Asus and the Dell. The U2311H is a great monitor, I really love the viewing angles and the contrast/color reproduction. Seems a lot richer than the Asus.

Not that the Asus is a bad display...right now I'm using it in the bedroom as a TV from my HTPC.

Can someone tell me what screws to get for VESA Mounting? I want to pick up the monoprice 3 way arms but just realized I don't have screws for these. Anyone know what length and thread?

That was pretty much my experience except I could find the ghosting difference on the U2311H despite ~6 months of heavy parallel/cloned use. I ended up selling the Asus and going to eyefinity which I haven't regretted since.

Well, I used to have an old Samsung 15" LCD back when they were first coming out, and that had something like 16ms response time, and I never really noticed ghosting on that, either. I guess it's on a per-user basis, but personally I don't really notice any. I'm sure if you look specifically for it you could find it, but when I'm playing a fast-paced game and I don't notice it, that's good enough for me.

My biggest frustration is finding this unit. I think it was discontinued shortly after this sale. I've got one and love it, but I really want a 2nd and can't find them anywhere :(

eh. The only thing I like about it is the 16:10 ratio. I'll gladly sell you mine. I've moved on to e-IPS.

Still, this is one of the better 25/26" you can find... at the prices its at for sure
