I want to know how many if any are having major sound problems with Windows 7. My problems started after the install of SP1 for Win7.

Some have no sound at all with any soundcard.

Some have volume stuck at -80%

Some have popping and crackling.

Some have volumes changing without being adjusted.

Not sure how to start a vote in these forums, but the choices are above.

My main issue is that Microsoft won't even admit to an issue with sound after the SP1.

How many different sound cards did try out? And what sound cards did you try out? I was having problems with my Creative x-fi card making my system crash before I installed sp1. I switched to an Asus Xonar DX and haven't had any problems since then (before sp1 or with sp1).

My sound left channel is silenced when waking from sleep mode. Have to reboot pc to get stereo sound back. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it started after the SP1 update.

Screwed up Windows audio service

Registry or Driver issue

Some have popping and crackling.
Too many devices sharing the same IRQ, PCI latency setting incorrect (BIOS issue), faulty sound card, system that is full of malware, chipset failing, system overheating, faulty RAM, or driver issue.

Malware, driver issue, or jacked up volume controls on keyboard.

Exactly what hardware are you having trouble with with Win7 SP1?
Do you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard? Are you running at stock speeds or does this happen only when overclocking?

Do you have the latest drivers for your audio device? (Not necessarily the latest released from your motherboard manufacturer if you are using onboard).

Do you have the latest chipset drivers installed for your motherboard? If Intel or AMD based, the latest is almost never availabel on the motherboard manufacturers website. If Intel, their installer will almost never install all the updated drivers for the motherboard. A manual or force update install of the different drivers is usually required.

Are there any devices sharing the same IRQ as your sound card? USB, video, NIC, and drive controllers using the same irq as the sound device can cause popping/crackling and is a design issue of the motherboard.

What crap do you have running in the background, or is this with a completely clean install with ALL updated drivers installed?

Does your system have a blue-tooth controller? Faulty blue-tooth can cause all sorts of wacky isssues.

Well hell, why don't you ask something relevant?

i cant be bothered honestly...i reboot and it works again...so it works, i just noticed since then it has done this but i really cannot be bothered to find out why

What I see is any sound card can have the issues, it's not the sound cards.
