XFX Radeon HD 6870 - $156 (Cashback, Coupon, Rebate) @ Newegg

I have this card in my wife's rig, pretty decent overall, drivers aren't bad, solid speed. Cannot be overclocked almost at all (extremely low headroom on this model on average). She plays mostly BC2 lately and this card champs it with MLAA and everything @ 1080p. No problem.

Thats a good deal. I wish I had them money to pick up another one. Two of these in Crossfire would keep me going for a while.

Thanks for the kind words everyone but the coupon in the OP was on Newegg's Video Card front page. It counts for 10% off anything on the front page, and the 6870 was the best deal I saw, so I just posted it with the cashback to make it as low as possible.

Thanks though :).

Got the Sapphire 6850 for 174.99 + 4.99 s&h - 17.50 promo code - 15 MIR = 147.48 + a free $10 newegg gift card, so $137.48 if you plan to make another purchase at newegg. Crossfire inc for me!

Wait, what? You have a wife that plays Bad Company 2??? Where do I get women like this?

She tries to get me to play with her but I'm usually playing other games. I like strategy, sims, RPGs.... brain games, she likes blood and guts shoot'em ups and action, "I like to go online and shoot ******* in the face" games. Bleh.

In FPS games I've played (CS 1.6, L4D2) there's a lot of brain work going on, as well as "shoot them in the face action, playing competitively in scrims etc.

It was more of a poke at our affinity for different genres than any crack on FPS games. I play a lot of them myself. I even play BC2 sometimes.

worthwhile upgrade from a gtx460 1gb or should I save for the 6950 at least?

That's up for debate. In my opinion, anything less than a 6970 or GTX 570 cannot max BC2 with fluid enough frames for highly competetive 32-player server gameplay. Min FPS dropping into the 40s when sniping is unacceptable to me.

Still, it's a great deal.

Same here. In BC2 if I look down the sight and FPS is less than ~50 that's already turning into a slideshow and it noticeably affects my ability to track targets. I don't get how [H] gets between 20-70 FPS in its BC2 run-throughs and calls that acceptable.

Great deal! Wish I had money :(

Also to those with the BC2, I think my average was in the low 40s(HD 4870) and I can still get a 4:1 K/D by sniping, its a fucking joke. Sniping is for K/D whores anyways
Especially when you play Rush and the whole server (32) is sniping, its great.

That is a hell of a deal on a very high quality video card, I paid more for my 6850.

i ended up biting on this, and just got mine in, and im enjoying it!

You and your wife are like the polar opposite of the stereotypical male/female gamer. brain games....What's wrong with you :D

I have the same card that I got for around 150 and love it. I have it at 925MHz and 1150Mhz on the memory. Don't make me want to buy another one too! :D

I'm wanting to extend the life of my Q9450 system out a little bit longer.

Would this be a decent price/performance ratio decision vs. the GTX280 I've got now?

Great card. I bought this about two weeks ago, and it maxes most games out. Shogun and Bc2 play beautifully.

goddamit!!!! i wish newegg would ship international. even with the cost of international shipping it would still be cheaper than buyine a new card here in New Zealand

It should make a decent upgrade. Though frankly I'd use the money to replace your Raptor 150GB with an SSD instead.

Oh well, I s'pose it's for the better. I won't have THAT much time to play many games til mid-summer. 4870 is still going strong for the games I currently play.

If that is the case maybe by then we can see 6950 1GB going for this price :).
