Sure, monitor two has one of the default Dark Rainmeter clocks/calendar configs running and the music player is Winamp with the "K_inspired" skin.

I agree. I've been using Soft7 for so long now, that it's weird when I see the default Windows 7 theme. In my opinion, Soft7 is what Windows 7 should have been, visually.

Indeed! I always ask myself, "Why, Microsoft?". Soft7 is executed so well and feels/looks so natural that you even forget it's a third party visual style. Once that fresh install of Windows 7 comes around and the default Aero theme is there I'm totally caught off guard with just how damned ugly Aero is!

This is my desktop on my Eee Slate EP121 tablet PC. It's optimized for touch. I'm using Omnimo 3.1 for the panels and Starlight for the date & time.

EDIT: Updated the screenshot with a slightly changed layout of my desktop on the EP121. Removed the applications box, since it looked kinda ugly with the shrunken icons. I've also set the taskbar on auto-hide for now, since the Windows panel button will bring up the start menu + taskbar when pressed.

My first impression when I saw that image above was "Oh god..." (and I'm well aware of the Omnimo Rainmeter thing), but then I scrolled down and saw that you're using it on the Asus Eee tablet and then it was "Oh, excellent use of Omnimo... a tap here, a tap there..." :D

Excellent, excellent... BRAVO!

Haha, pretty much the same thing that ran through my mind. "Ah man... another misplaced post in the clean desktop thread..." but considering it's a tablet, that works pretty well. The calendar being almost unreadable is driving me nuts though.

Here's how I keep a clean desktop. Re-enabled the quick launch bar and threw all my most-used programs on there instead of the desktop :)

Background is a custom Photoshopped screenshot from Company of Heroes. I've got tons of those if anyone's interested. I actually normally run with no background and Aero disabled but that's not fun to look at :p

Joe: Thanks, although I got the idea from a poster over at TabletPCReview who said that Omnimo would be a great skin for tablets. I'm still trying to figure out the layout, but so far, it works pretty well.

WiLLister: Yeah, the calendar appears way too faint on a background with a lot of light colors. I switched my background to a much darker one and now looks okay.

Yo sir, are my inspiration. I got a EP121 coming next week from work. I like this!

I've updated the screenshot of my EP121 desktop. I decided to remove the applications panel, since it looked somewhat awkward with shrunken icons and just replaced it with regular panels. Overall though, I found that Omnimo really works well with tablet PCs. :)

For anyone that's planning to use Omnimo for their tablet PCs, be sure to uncheck the 'draggable' property for each panel. Otherwise, the panels will be thrown off alignment when bringing up the onscreen keyboard.

I think I liked the earlier layout better, dunno. Why not just use really big desktop icons, they don't scale that large? I guess those panels are something you can easily disable when not using it in tablet mode.

just upgraded to a new monitor, so i figured it was time to refresh my desktop. nothing fancy here. no docks, clocks or calendars. just plain 'ol win7 aero.
