ASUS RMA is up

don;t fucken use a debit cARD !! ITS not the same as a credit card !!

we a credit card your safe from fraudulent charges. we a debit card its like having access to your bank account. They can't simply refund you the money since its considered cash not credit. Your more protected with a credit card than cash!

flat out not true....as long as ur debit card has a visa/mc emblem on it, all transactions are processed as credit provided u use it as one. You are covered by the same fraud issues as a normal CC through mastercard or visa. The only difference is a hold holds your cash, since u dont have credit to hold.

A debit card CANNOT be used as a debit card without the PIN.

If anyone EVER asks you for your pin, run...that should never happen. Its only used at point of sale on a keypad...never anywhere else, and no one should ever ask you for it, because there isnt anything they can do with it...legally....

you are spreading FUD. cut it out.

but why the hell would anyone want a hold on thier checking account?

I got off the phone yesterday with Asus and the Tech told me the Intel 6 guys have there own little bunker over there / or some where cant remb/ , so my guess is that Intel has sent groups of people to company's to deal with this. I could be wrong .. Or Asus has put there own people together , I just don't know...He also said they will be working weekends till they get a handle on things. As I sent my info off on the 2nd and haven't heard anything back as of yet...

It's just a bit odd that you can not talk to anyone that's handling your issue . They are busy for sure I know and kind of makes perfect sense.. But I was having issues sending the email with my Credit card info to them as It keep bouncing back to me.. So the Tech told me I have 3 RMA request and I only have 1 . So the 3 times I sent them the info and my mail was saying rejected from Intel6xxxxxx It went through , Just another issue and frustration with all this mess. But what can ya do ..

Well after resending my info and a phone call I now have an RMA#. My RMA# only shows up at the Asus service RMA page, it does not show up on the Intel 6 RMA status page. That page still shows in progress. What I also realized is my original case # I got on Wednesday is not the case # that shows up now. My first case # was less than 100 and my new one is over 1 million. I have both PDFs saved as proof on the different case #'s. What a complete screw up this return has been.
Now this part has nothing to do about Asus but I think Intel has dropped the ball here on compensation. I don't know about anyone else but my time is money. Who is going to compensate for the labor to remove and reinstall the parts. What about people that need more cpu paste to put on their chip, reusing the paste on the stock cooler is not a very good idea. What about people that build rigs for people for extra cash, will they get compensation like the OEMs do for their incurred labor costs.

Not to mention that every time to have to handle a mobo and the cpu, you run some risk of ESD zapping your components. It's a raw deal all around but we as early adopters have little recourse that I can see. I would be happy if I can just get to the other side of this entire matter. This is also why I would rather not wait until April to get something like this fixed. ASAP is the way to go on this.

I'm using this motherboard swap as an opportunity to improve my system.

I have a new (better) cooler ready to go as well as a new power supply. (picked up the new Seasonic X-660 at Micro Center for a really good price.)

So I'll end up with the new MB with the all-good SATA ports, greater OC capability, a better, more powerful PS gong forward and less wiring clutter since the X series PS are fully modular.

So I'm looking forward to the swap!

We techie people tend to be an impulsive lot, i bet if u did a survey youd find find allot of us with messed up credit, or maxxed out.

Not everyone is allowed a CC, and allot more dont want one because we understand our nature.

lol

So the timeline..

1. Submitted CC info on 03/04
2. Pending charge appears on 03/05
3. Online status shows in "progress"..

Used that link- show's RMA issued and new motherboard sent already. I'll be getting in Monday. Got an e-mail from Fed-ex with a return label that was it from Asus even though it looks like it was processed and shipped. Not bad- I faxed the info Thursday afternoon and they shipped the replacement board Friday and I'll get it Monday. Can't complain about that service.

"
Dear Valued Customer

We have received and your forms will be processed accordingly."
:p

EDIT; send my form on March 3

Yea they are trying , But can you imagine how many people in the USA are sending there boards back all at one time.

That's a mess in it's self.. Not a job I want right now that's for sure.:mad::

I would like too see some #s , just for the heck of things..

the way things go i don't expect Asus MB's to show up at retailers any time soon and if they will
the number could be limited just like with Maximus IV

Sent in on Wed and just now (Sat) finally got a RMA#. So yes, it does appear they are working over the weekend!

Yes mine just came in also, Shocking , didn't expect anything till next week..

You want to have a good laugh after all this mess I think everyone needs too any how..

Read some or all of this , It did my soul some good for a change.:D

Intel's Core i7-990X Extreme processor
The new flagship CPU reviews itself

The 1ST Paragraph just to give you a taste.

Friggin' Sandy Bridge, the golden child. My Westmere brothers and I are the biggest, baddest PC processors on the planet, and somehow, she still gets all the glory. Everybody is all, "Sandy this, Sandy that," even though she's slower than us. I say: if being second-rate and cheap were the keys to success in the world, everybody would be driving a Kia.

I got my RMA number but it still says credit card auth form in progress.. is this normal? =\

Sent mine in on Thursday still havent heard anything. Ill wait a few more days see what happens if I get no response my mid week ill go the newegg route.

Ok so When I send in mine what do I send the box and all the original item's?

maybe, at least that what it says here http://service.asus.com/notice/status.aspx
Packaging Information:

* Must be packaged in a box; envelopes will be rejected
* We recommend 2 inches of padding around product itself (example: popcorn, bubble wrap, foam)
* For motherboards, install the original CPU socket cover to protect the pins from damage during transit
* If possible, include the original box and all bundled accessories

here is also another info http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036924683&postcount=81

I'm not breaking my back trying to find all original accessories. If I can send back what they send me, then fine. But little things tend to get lost over time....and it has been over a month.

If doing an advanced RMA. Returning the accessories is very easy. When the new motherboard comes take all those accessories and put them in the with the returned MB. I really doubt they want the accessories back.

Strippers....

There seems to be conflicting info whether Asus wants the original accessories back or not. Once person says this, another person says something else. Or one links says this, another link (or Asus personnell) says something else. What is the real verdict here? Why can't Asus make up their mind?

ok, that's what I think
at the RMA page they say "If possible, include the original box and all bundled accessories", in my opinion that means that it's not 100% necessarily to send the accessories, only if it's possible for you

It would less confusing if it says, "Try to include as many as possible of the original accessories" or better yet, just say, "Do not include any accessories. Include only the motherboard in the box to ship back to Asus."

I guess the best way to find out what to do, is just to give them a call before you start packing the board to send it back
that's what I'm planning to do

In my case, I'm just placing the bare board in the antistatic bag in a padded shipping box. It's an RMA. Why would you do anything else if you were getting the board replaced during the warranty period. As far as I'm concerned, it's "not possible".

I'm just sending back a bare board too...I'm going to minimizing my frickin hassle....accessories are mine for all this "pain". :)

I am all for keeping the accessories for all the hassle we have incurred. More important to me, I say in addition to that we should be able to keep the bios chip too. At least this would give all of us a backup chip in case of bricking. Those chips in bulk cost less than $1. What do ya'all think.

Should we strip the board of things (like heatsinks, BIOS chip, etc...) before sending it back? I think Asus is going to dump the board in a melting pot and the use the the goods from it to make new board. They won't reuse or refurbish the boards, are they?

Would be nice to have a spare bios considering all the failed flashes. That may not go over well with them, though. Someone try and let us know how it goes. ;)

I would keep it. It is not really dead. All you have to do is hot swap it and you now have a backup chip.
I've got a spare chip anyway, it's on the way
so I'll live the dead one on the board, don't wanna give them reasons not to release the hold money from credit card ;) just in case)))

If we strip them bare, then ASUS wouldn't dare ship us someone elses' stripped board, right? :)
