Damn, where am I supposed to get my free corset now?

Best Buy had a neat package deal for customers who want a Blu-Ray copy of the movie "Burlesque." For $20, shoppers would get both the movie and a free corset of questionable quality. The corset was exclusive to Best Buy: but not for very long, because stores were ordered to pull the corsets before the item went on sale.

Like you don't already have a closet full for those special Saturday nights out.....

If this is true about some parent group making it happen, someone needs their head kicked in. Retards.

Ok, I'll just ask for the others since I don't want to google it at this location... what is a corset?

If I had to guess... its that lingerie that those broadway wenches wear when they do their burlesque shows?

Okay Yeah, the outfit I picture I get in my head of Christina Aguilara every time I hear her name.... I think it was because of that whore music video she made.

I don't see why Best Buy did that... I am with Shadowspawn, I also bet this is some pathetic, no life, parent group with nothing better to do with their non-productive lives.

It's not really something of an adult nature... Image googling with safe serach only came up with 2 nipples on the first page.

HAH, Yep :) I googled Christina's name and on the first page of her pics I got the same picture I get mentally every time I hear her name

Sex Sells, no?.... less sales for you Best Buy. All because of some ugly women who want things their greedy way. Not a smart move, as usual from Worst Buy.

Considering just how dumb you have to be to shop at best buy, isn't it possible that one of their customers just might attempt to wear a "no cost" corset?

Remember, the whole point of those things are to constrict the body as much as possible. A "one-size-fits-a-whole-bunch" might not be a good thing to put in the hands of idiot customers. Legal could well have thrown a fit long before they had a chance to have a bunch of superstitions cro-magnons heard of it.

Sooo not true about the constrict as much as possible :p Especially thecheap crap it would have been. Cheap assed corset couldn't constrict melted cheese, and if they do even manage that its in a mishapen way. Which is what corsets are for, shaping stuff. Try to tighten one of thse and youll just have some torn fabric and a pile of cheap eyelets.

Incidentally, the origins of the corset was as mens wear...so steve is in the clear on this one :D

I am the dude that submitted that story to the Consumerist. Thanks for posting this Steve.

You've made my warm fuzzy feeling even warmer and more fuzzy. ;)

Ok, not so much as much as possible, but certainly to constrict. Of course, if you wind up with "torn fabric and a pile of cheap eyelets" you have a pretty fail-safe design, so forget my theory.

The original article also states that this was not an actual wearable corset, but a replica that was sized to be packed with the DVD. So maybe if you had a cat or small dog you felt like tarting up, then it could be worn. Or you could just go to PetSmart and buy one without the shame of owning Burlesque.

On a side note, why are there so many 'You can't do that because I don't like it" groups, and why are all the companies and governments giving in to them?

so we are lacking a "fuck y'all" 'activist group'...

The stupidity of Best Buy never ceases to amaze.

The issue is that they are selling underwear to those who aren't 18? Since when did you ever need to be 18 to buy underwear? I've never seen Walmart card anyone for buying Hanes.

History fail?

Have you not been paying attention in school? Not notice that a pretty significant portion of the world (*cough* Middle East *cough*) pretty much built entirely on that idea? And, basically, MOST of Western History (sans, say, portions of the past 150 years or so on some continents)?

Basic tenant of the human condition: desire to control other humans.

I must admit at first I found it to be a funny promotion. Its like they do not expect many guys to buy that movie. Then again I've never watch that movie myself.

Wonder what a single guy would do if he bought that movie and receive a corset :p

Theres nothing wrong with men wearing corsets! If its good enough for shatner, its good enough for anoyone who works IT :p
