I have a Asus G51vx laptop with a 260m gtx and a core 2 duo 2.00ghz processor. currently I have the processor overclocked to 2.30ghz.

My concern is that the gpu is being bottlenecked by my cpu, especially because I don't see any performance gain even when I overclock my gpu.

So my question is: if I buy a new processor (looking at a 2.80ghz) and overclock that to let's say 3.00ghz, will that significantly increase fps in games?

Other specs: 1366 x 768 resolution, 4gb ram, get about 20-25 fps in Lost Planet 2 maxed settings with 2x AA, and about 19-22 fps in Crysis maxed with 2x AA.

Do you actually know you can buy a new CPU for that laptop at that speed? Most laptops will only allow a very specific set of CPUs.

I have one of those laptops and I just put an x9100 3.2 ghz dual core processor in it.

It made a big difference in some of the games. Also I oc'd the graphics card to 620mhz
which helped a lot too.

But yeah these particular laptops ahve different variants of mobos in them and
some won't take quad cores.

My starting pc mark 06 was 8800 and now it's 13000. I know these benchmarks
don't tell the whole story but with a laptop theres not a lot to go on.
