Battlefield 3 Trailer

this game is going to be sweet!
frostbit 2.0 engine supports direct x 11 and 64bit processor
wonder if that means 64bit only
but the quasi real time radiosity is sick!

it's going to be a proper game too since PC platform is going to be the lead platform they develop on and then port it over to 360/ps3

What was weird though is that the movement didn't seem to be M&KB. Yeah it said wasd when you were dragging the guy to safety, but it looked like the game was played via a controller.

might have been pre-programmed motion and stuff like in in game benchmarks

It has a campaign this time I am guessing nice! Do want, havent had a good large scale FPS MP that I liked in a long time.

Gorgeous

Hopefully the multi-player goes back up to 64+ players

Would be awesome if they added LAN support. This is a day 1 purchase for me! Game looks awesome. The scenerio is so realistic. About time developers show the power of the PC!!!

Nice little video there. "Ever wonder why this part of the world gets so fucked up all the time?" Best line ever!.

Well since I have seen multiple footage of players going prone, I assume the game will have that in it this time unlike some pile of crap games (BFBC2). I could not even believe that game made it to production with no prone stance. Now to find out if they pulled their crap together and got the in game voice working too.

So, the game isn't out and EA is already advertising "expansion pack(s)"? Awesome.

BF2 supports a maximum of 256 players in a single server :p

Trailer was nice. Too bad I haven't the GPU power to handle the game anyway. X-D

This reminded me too much of CoD:MW. I hope they don't ruin the Battlefield Franchise by making it too single-player centric.

Doubt it will be 64 bit only. I'm betting it will be recommended though. I remember BF2 almost required a PC with 2GB of RAM when the most common setup at the time was 1GB. I would like to see BF3 push the envelope and make a 4-6GB with 64bit OS the recommended. But it has been confirmed there is no DX9 support on PC, thus no Windows XP support. Frostbite 2 on PC is DX10 and DX11 only. There is a huge thread about it in the gaming subforum.

It has already been confirmed by EA that it is 64 players in multiplayer

Prone is confirmed for release. I could care less about the VoIP features since most clans already use ventrilo or teamspeak. If its made available to everyone it will most likely be abused. I would rather it not turn into xbox live with 12 year olds shrieking and screaming obscenities they don't know the meaning of.

They are calling it a Limited edition with an ex pack out of the gate. But all the editions will be limited editions, and thus every PC version will have same content. Its marketing BS is all it is. They pulled the same stunt with BFBC2. Don't know about xbox or ps3 versions though, they might milk those for DLC money.

Does EA have an official release date yet?
I've heard October. Atleast according to a few places I've seen offering pre-orders. Makes sense too since they will want to beat COD MW3 to market since they always release in November.

It just made me so happy to see that the rifle in the game had the ejection port on the right side of the weapon. Thank god.

Reminds me of the Battlefield 1 mod called Desert Combat which was awesome. The map looks familiar.

Anyway, can't wait for BF3, this is going to rock!

Well the trailer is nice. Lots of positives.

Ya... I hope its not gonna be like DA2 all over again. Pre-order 3 months early or you miss out on this character!

More generic army sp shit, the only part of battlefield anyone should care about is MP, why are they wasting time on a SP campaign when they could be making multi even better, or making a new map etc etc etc

Anyway where is duke already?

I know what you are saying about the voice and 12 year olds who do crap like play music into it or whatever. But in the past Voice was limited to your squad and commanders (Like in BF2) so if somebody in my squad is acting up, I just kick them out. Most games also include the option to individual players (permanently) if they are worth a damn.

Lastly, you are assuming people are in a clan. I have never participated in a clan, and probably never will. But I shoudl still have the right to communicate with whoever I play with.

I'll be going to pre-order today, as I have fond memories of spending many a hour in BF2 back in the day and this is the game that my new Sandy/Ivy Bridge based system will be built around.

I would venture a guess that unlike you there are a lot of people (me included) that fucking despise MP simply because immature asshats can't bring themselves to act civilized and actually have fun. Most of the time its a bunch of immature shitheels griefing and screetching "FAGGOT FAGGOT FAGGOT N****R FAGGOT FAGGOT" and finding any and every way to cheat the system.

I would love to see a true revival of the SP area of gaming. I want a good story, with good action to go along with it without having to put up with other peoples inexcusable bullshit.

^This and in addition, some of us prefer single player because there is a difficulty setting whereas the same cannot be said in MP. Some of us do wish we had the skill of FPS pros that can one-shot your eyeball from 300 yards away with a pistol to compete with the hack that eleven year old is using, however, that type of skill takes practice, time and effort which some of us don't have due to rl, family, responsibilities, etc. However, playing through a new SP campaign that keep look better and better every six that takes all of 10 hours is quite manageable time-wise.

You know what I want? localized voicecoms. I want my voice to project out from my mouth in game. This way if some guy is scream fag, fag, fag I can just walk away from him. :D

Let me iterate two things on your post if I may.

1.) If you hate MP so much in games like Battlefield, have you even tried finding a server that doesn't allow that bullshit? Sure, it may take a few attempts but you'll have a much better experience online with people. That's what I take the time to do with every game I own on PC.

2.) I'll agree with you on the SP revival, but if a game is gonna focus on SP I'd rather see a much longer campaign than one I can beat in one or two sittings. That goes doubly true for any console games I play.

And then lets not forget the flip side of this MP related shit. Trying to find a group (clan, etc) to play with to insulate yourself from some of that shit on pubbie servers is just as hateful. The ranks of snobby assholes and their basement dwelling acne infested crotch rot smelling fat ass virgin"friends" who think just because they can play a video game really well means that "n00bies" (or whatever the retarded AOL l33t slop talk term these morons are using these days) aren't welcome.

F that. I want to play a goddamn game and have fun, not have to put up with peoples stupidity and retardation.

Personally, I'd rather play a great 6-7 hour SP with a solid story, solid voice acting and, good clever humor versus a 20 hour dragged out story of repetitive gameplay. Quality in a SP campaign is a lot more important to me then length.

I also think that FPS's are hard to make into more then 8 or 10 hours because the gameplay itself is usually much shorter then say an RTS. FPS's are usually very linear in scope when compared to an RPG or RTS. It's the just the nature of the beast. With that in mind I really can't wait for this game even if the SP is only 4 hours of gameplay!

I remember reading somewhere that Battlefield 3 would NOT be supported on Windows XP as DX9 is not supported. But 32 and 64-bit OS are safe.

I rarely see ranting in bfbc2, it's the rampant use of hacks such as Aimbot and ESP that boil my blood and the seemingly unwillingness of EA/DICE to actually do something other than use punkbuster and rely on admins to police the populace. It would seem there is no real penalty for using them besides an odd server ban, but out of hundreds of servers that are basically un or under monitored who cares. The need their netcode and client to be way more secure than it currently is, it totally takes away from the MP aspect currently.
