Windows 7 SP1

Failed for me, told me to use the disk and see what wasn't compatible. Gave me a report that ATI Catalyst Control Center and Install Manager wouldn't work after the update. Uninstalled and trying again at the moment on this machine, W7 Ult, i7-860, 6970. Other machine that also has an Ati card, 5870, and same OS, same driver versions as this machine had no problem at all. Sorta annoying.

EDIT: Failed again through WU. Wants me to use the disk and the upgrade option, compatibility checker didn't report anything this time. Bleh!

So what version did you guys download? I want to get the usual .EXE file but it looks like they only offer an ISO file. Any known method to slip stream this will a retail disc?

It hasn't hit Windows Update yet for me, but I did find the link to download it directly... is that typical? I expected to be able to see it through Windows Update.

I've had the integrated ISO that was built on November 19th, 2010 since early January (both versions, x86 and x64) and haven't had one issue with it since. Wasn't sure if the build would actually last as long as it did without problems, but they signed off on it and it became the RTM build so, that's that. ;)

Hit Windows Update here, installing now. Check if you have update options enabled, try refreshing or check if you can download it directly from Microsoft.

I had to try four times with the update process before I finally got a successful install. I kept getting error 8007000E, whatever that means. I never had any problems installing XP sp's, so I guess MS still has some kinks to work out of 7.

using the system files cleanup I was able to remove ~500mb of SP1 backup files, for those on a budget.

SP 1 installed without any issues here.

The only change I've noticed is that in my System Information there's a new label that says: "Service Pack 1".

Joy!

It's usually best to not try slipstreaming yourself and instead use the native Win 7 SP1 builds that Microsoft makes available to Technet and MSDN subs.

Any idea when those will be released, or have they been out for a while now already?

Looks like they adjusted the Windows Experience Results. My GTX460 now pulls a 7.0 where before SP1 it was a 7.5 .

updated both of my machines just now with no problems at all.

think I'll wait a few weeks since I'm already up to date with previous updates...SP1 doesn't bring anything to the table for me

Wouldn't install for some reason for me, restarting and trying again soon.

EDIT: NVM, got it on the second go.

can't get it to install via WU. i just keep getting the same error code over and over, 80200053.

i'm pretty much already up-to-date anyway, and it's only trying to grab 87.2MB total for sp1. can't figure this out and it's starting to bug me!

edit: i did just get home from work, so perhaps this is the just the witching hour and the WU servers are being hammered? just a wild stab in the dark bit of speculation on my part.

Laptop failed twice trying to install on W-7 Enterprise 32 bit from disc and from windows update and they have the downloads are out on Technet with SP1 in the W-7 downloads

yeah I am on my third attempt after getting those errors and it has been stuck at 19% for about 15 minutes now. this is the first Win 7 update that has ever failed for me.

I am getting a small performance bump out of it. Crysis went up 3pfs with 2560x1600 resolution, and Fire Fox feels a little smoother clicking links and surfing.

I reran the bench 4 times, and no change. Performance increase is still there, granted the FF might be, but not the benches.

I finally got a good install. Took a couple times with WU but it did eventually go thru. Mustve installed pretty smoothly cause I dont notice any differences anywhere.

yeah 3rd time finally worked for me.

EDIT: I had ran the Metro 2033 benchmark right before and right after sp1 and averaged the exact same 35.5 fps both times. that's odd that it did not even move 1/10 in either direction.

Installed fine but now my disk score is 5.9 with a SSD, weird.

I get an "unknown error" - 0x800f0826. Been getting that since trying the technet build (have technet sub) last week. Wheeee, probably get to format and reinstall. Swell.

I tried 4 times and it failed every time. I don't know why it's failing because I never had problems with WU. I've got a lot of stuff on my PC and it'll take a long time to reinstall everything if I have to reinstall Windows. If I installed all the patches released previous to SP1, do I need to get SP1?

The download took a while, probably because the WU servers are getting hammered at the moment.

But the install went smooth (first try). Windows 7 Ult. 64bit with latest Nvidia 266.58 drivers. No noticeable performance increase here.

if you had any updates right before sp1 then go ahead and reboot before trying to do the sp1 update.

I restarted the PC twice and it didn't help. I've never had problems with WU before but for some reason SP1 doesn't wanna be put on my system.

well maybe it was just coincidence but I also did not have any browsers or other programs running when it finally decided to work. I just rebooted, went to windows update, got sp1 and walked away while it did its thing.

I've got 2 Win7 computers (one phenom ii x4 945 + radeon 3600hd win7 pro 64bit, one phenom ii x6 1090t + radeon 5830 win7 ultimate 64bit) and i'm getting error 80200053 on both of them when trying to install. both are fully up to date otherwise, both run MSE for antivirus/spyware. i tried installing on both after disabling MSE, but no luck.

eta: just tried it on my laptop (core i3 m330, win7 home premium 64bit) and i also get 80200053. so it must be some piece of software that is in common between all 3, but other than MSE i cant think of anything.

3 out of the 4 failures I had are duing the download; 1 failure was during installation. When it started to install, it immediately popped a message saying that the installation cannot continue.

I'll try to patch later, but I'm not very optimistic. My system is running well and I really don't want to reinstall Windows.

so you benched the game directly before you installed sp 1?

Yes, I was benching the last two nights testing the U3011. For some odd reason, Batman AA will not run after the SP. I deleted the local files after checking the cache. I am downloading again now. Dirt 2, was about the same. I have not tested anything else yet. AA could be fluke, but I need to see if anything else was broken. It was working just last night.
