ASUS PA246Q: 24-inch, 1920x1200, IPS

Probably going to be 499.99 sigh and I was thinking eyefinity FTW on these.

The human eye can see about 10million colors which alone is mind boggling. I cant imagine 1.06 billion on a 10bit color gamut.

I absolutely adore Asus monitors. Hopefully this has a light AG coat. Reflective sucks but so does the AG on the Dell 2311 and NEC 23.

Nice looking monitor, I might pick up a set of those when I build my next rig.

Hopefully they won't have the same issues shipping the actual product like the EP121 tablet(it was supposed to ship the week of January 24).

Design: nice.
Data: nice.
Ad: nice.

The same insane AG coating everyone else uses? Not so nice...

[That's just a guess of mine, I don't know how strong the AG coating is... but every single one of the last 100 "high end" displays posted here had this exact same issue]

1,000:1 contrast+light AG coating+equal>response time to the U2311H please!

If there are tinting issues is Asus customer support going to be as good as HP/Dell/NEC)?

How about someone in the USA contact ASUS USA to determine how bad or good the Anti-Reflective coating is?

Thanks,

I dont like that irritating red stripe at the bottom. Other than that it isnt enough reason to make me NOT get this screen. The price is. I just hope this thing is a Dell u2410 killer and can bring it close to the Eizo PVAs.

Oh man... this is glorious. Everybody save me one until next Tuesday when my 2 other newegg gift cards show up in my inbox.

Wide gamut. Hm...

Hopefully it at least has a semi-decent normal gamut mode.

This is the same p-ips panel NEC uses in their new PA line? $500 would seem to be a good price if thats the case. Thanks for posting very tempting.

People seemed impressed with it at CES. If it has a light AG coating I'm ditching my U2410 for it.

lol i wish a could afford one, but i love the 16x10, my laptop has a beautiful wuxga, shes getting old, shes getting old but still has one of the best monitors of all the laptops i have seen

As soon as a [H] member gets one would you mind posting your thoughts?

I'm not able to find anything on this Monitor yet, expect finding the specs on it. Everything looks really good on this monitor. Its Input Lag is what has me the most curious.

Hrmm I still havent ordered any ZR or other screens. I am waiting to here from someone that purchases this first. If they are REAL nice I might get 3 for eyefin plus I need 3 monitors for the amount of multitasking I do.

Almost certainly. There aren't a great number of different IPS panels being made. So usually when you find an IPS panel that sounds like another one, well it is the same thing.

However that doesn't mean the monitors are 100% the same. There's a lot more to a monitor than the panel. The electronics backing it make a difference. The ASUS isn't likely to have all the pro features (like hardware calibration) that the NEC does. Also usually panels are graded when they are made. Not everything comes out perfect. So the manufacturer tests them and grades them, based on things like backlight uniformity and so on, and prices them accordingly. So a more expensive monitor might use a higher grade panel.

Now please don't look at this as an attempt to turn out off from the monitor. Just make sure to understand that you aren't getting a $1000 monitor for $500, you are getting a monitor that uses the same panel.

I'm getting antsy! Can't wait for tomorrow when orders start arriving so we can see some reviews. If it's the same 10 bit panel from the NEC it's a no brainer over the U2410 or Z24W.

Specs sound great so far, but I want to know about input lag before I pull the trigger. If it checks out, I'm completely sold.

im in the market for a new screen, this one looks good, im also waiting for results.

Does newegg still have the lame 8 or more dead pixel policy for returns?

Looks like it. Can't find anything from Asus about this being a Zero Bright Dot covered display either. Makes the U2410 with Dell's zero pixel policy sound a lot better...

Looks like it doesn't have an sRGB emulation mode. Totally negates it for me.

. . . and sold out as of about 1/2 hour ago at NewEgg ($499 with free shipping).

Interested in reading impressions of this monitor once people start receiving them.

that red line looks hideous. Some one tell me if it can be removed.

A black sharpie or some electrical tape = ALL GONE!

Oh and I will be posed to buy at least 2 of these if they are THAT GOOD. But only time and reviews will tell.
