Klipsch F-20 x2 - How good of a deal is this?

I have been considring all sorts of options for a while now on what to get for my sound system to go with my Samsung PN58C7000. Right now the TV is setup in a small room, and if I were to get a surround sound system my head would be inbetween the back speakers, so I dont think that is the greatest route. Also, a lot of people seem to say Home Theater Systems arent as good of a deal as slowly putting it together yourself.

There is this deal on newegg for two Klipsch F-20 floor standing speakers for 400$ (buy one get on free, and free shipping).

I was just wondering if this is a good deal or not - and if I went this route, would I still need a center speaker and a subwoofer? Lets assume that my room is much bigger, and that its size has no bearing on whether or not its too small for something so powerful because I plan on moving the whole theater to a much larger room eventually.

First off, in a 5.1 system, there are no "rear" speakers, the surround speakers are really supposed to go on the sides of the listening area. So your set up will work for that, I have had a few setups like that and they worked fine. 7.1 adds "rear" speakers to the above setup, which you do not have room for.
I also would rather build one piece at a time, and get better quality. You will be happy with a 2.0, unless someone sits off-center, the voices will seem to come from the side they sit on. Dialogue is the main function of the center speaker, and it can really help anchor the soundstage.
As far as Klipsch go, you really need to listen to some. Lots of people love them, lots hate them. They tend to be very "bright", and can be fatiguing to listen to for long times. Like I said you need to listen, they are a quality speaker, but all speakers sound different.

I have klipsch reference series and love them! I use a pioneer reciever, you plug a mic into it and it will calibrate itself and do an auto eq, that helps keep them from being so bright.

I would try to hold off and get everything in a big package. That way if you wait 2 years, and they discontinue the speakers, you won't be able to get matching center and surrounds. There are speakers called bic acoustech that are klipsch knockoffs that are very good for the money. for 900 - 1000 you can get a 5.1 speaker setup with a sub. I've listened to a few of them setup that my friends bought and they are 95% as good as my klipsch which cost around 5k. The only time I can tell a difference is when there is music playing in a movie, my klipsch sound fuller. But no one else notices, you really have to listen hard.

Another option that I use in my bedroom was to get some nice altec lansing THX certified 4.1 speakers / sub that come with a remote. Dish network, which is what i have, comes with a universal learning remote. I just programed those speakers into the remote and it works great! They sound REALLY good for the amount of money I have in them. I didn't even run the surround speakers to the back of the room, i just left them next to the tv and angled them off to the side.

You could run the sound out from the tv into those speakers and they would work for all sources. Sorry I split it up into 3 posts, i just kept thinking of more stuff to tell you.

I would get a nice receiver that fits yours needs, 2 fronts, a center and a sub. Wait on the surrounds as they are not need in a small room.

I agree wholeheartedly. Also, try to get "matching" center channel, or at least get as close as possible with the sensitivity to your mains. This will save you some setup headaches.
