Guys, I've been going back and forth with 4myrebate to get my rebate handled. I chose the fast rebate option, and let them take $8 from my rebate. It's been over a month since I sent it in, and I haven't gotten it back yet. I sent them an email saying that I need to get the $8 that I let them have for the fast option back along with my rebate, and they're playing dumb. I advise you all to be wary of 4myrebate's questionable tactics, and will amend this post to let you know how they do.

Just so everyone understands, I am not going to be bullied by corporate buffoons. Whoever taught rebate services to play difficult taught them wrong.

Hi. I sent in two rebates for rebate SIC-6031, from email at ZIP code 91214. I chose the expedited service option, and allowed $8 to be subtracted from my rebate, based on the claim that my rebate would leave the facility within (if I recall correctly) 5-7 days. I have not yet received my rebate, having mailed it on Jan. 2-4.

Here are the terms of the expedited service option, as found here.
http://galaxytech.4myrebate.com/Home/FAQ#10

Q: Is there anyway to receive my rebate faster?
A:Yes! For a small fee, which will be deducted from your rebate amount, Galaxy Microsystems offers the No-Wait Rebate service level. We guarantee that a check will be mailed within 5-7 business days of the receipt and approval of your rebate documentation.

This is unacceptable. Your rebate service has not fulfilled the policy that I reduced my rebate amount for. I require that I receive the full rebate amount that I was originally entitled to, $70, in order to be compensated for a service that I did NOT receive.

Thank you.

Thanks for your email.

What is your tracking number?

My number is: 20131977451xxxx

I sent in my rebate in early January.

Thank you.

Response
Thanks for your email.

Your rebate is being sent out this week.

Was the issue I explained in my first message understood? Had this rebate service fulfilled the policy I paid $8 for, I estimate that I would have received my rebate at the latest around two weeks ago.

Your service did NOT fulfill its policy. Your service is NOT deserving of paying $8 less. I expect to receive a rebate card(s) for a total of $70. I also expect your next response to include a confirmation or a denial of my requirement, and not an attempt to 'sweep it under the rug'.

Thank you.

Do not waste my time or play dumb. I am not going to speak with a CS when I am already in contact with one.

I am entitled to a $70 rebate. I expect to receive one worth that amount.

I have created a topic at a forum that I am a member of warning others about your shoddy business tactics and your attempt to make me jump through hoops with vague responses and unnecessary steps. I have the power to alter my post to reflect the service you provide me as easily as you have the power to provide me with service that I deserve.

Good day.

This is why I don't do the "faster service" option, or even rebates, whenever possible.

Good luck in getting it resolved.

Have you tried calling? I have not found email a good way to resolve major issues such as this.

Well I guess the CS was right about calling in that case. It's alway more convincing when an angry person is breathing down their necks. They're closed for today, I'll call tomorrow.

I called 4myrebate once and they were very good. I had to change the number of items on my rebate from one to two.

I think they are just paid to process the paperwork and are paid per rebate.

And there is their loophole. It sucks, but the fine print gives them an out. They can say they hadn't approved it yet. Rebate centers are EBIL!!!!

Your quote gives no actual dates, but in their wording of the terms you link to they do have this:

Q: Is there anyway to receive my rebate faster?
A: Yes! For a small fee, which will be deducted from your rebate amount, Galaxy Microsystems offers the No-Wait Rebate service level. We guarantee that a check will be mailed within 5-7 business days of the receipt and approval of your rebate documentation.

Q: What are my payment choices?
A: During registration, you will be asked to choose a payment type. You may be eligible to receive a Check, VISA or American Express Prepaid Reward Card. Normally, rebate payments are received 8-10 weeks after approved. The No-Wait Rebate option expedites the processing of your rebate. No-wait payments are sent out 5-7 business days from the day of approval.

You can send it in. They can receive it. Neither date yet matters, though.

It's when the rebate is approved is what matters.

I'll look through my EVGA e-mails and such, but you open a rebate claim with them before you send your items in, then they e-mail you when they receive your rebate forms, etc, and then they e-mail you when your rebate has been approved.

I believe the approval process can take weeks.

Yes, EVGA is a very reputable company for rebates, and here is my timeline that I show:

I bought the item 7/8/10. Received 7/9/10.

2010/07/08 - Day I bought item.
2010/07/09 - Day I recd item and registered for my rebate (put in mail the next day)
2010/07/21 - Day EVGA says they received my rebate info.
2010/08/17 - Day EVGA approved my rebate

So, it took 7/10 - 7/21 (11 days) for EVGA to even receive my rebate by mail.

After that, it took 07/21 - 08/17 (about four weeks) for approval.

Their wording is 5-7 days after approval.

Right now, everything sounds good with your rebate experience XacTactX.

I believe you are confusing "received" with "approved". Two different things, and both times that FAQ discusses the 5-7 day expectation, they clearly state after approval?

And there is their loophole. It sucks, but the fine print gives them an out. They can say they hadn't approved it yet. Rebate centers are EBIL!!!!

They can say it because they probably hadn't yet. Even EVGA lets you know by e-mail every step of the way, and they let you know that receiving and approving are two different things, and there are weeks between each.

EBIL!!!! is right. Thanks a lot for the clarification. So by virtue of them "approving" it, they don't even have to honor the fast option right? It would be unfair, but they could just claim that they had not "approved" it yet. That's not right...

Let me re-phrase something...

I said "everything sounds good with your rebate experience..."

More appropriate: "Everything sounds typical..."

Yes, EVGA is probably one of the more trusted and reputable rebates around, and even they took about a month between receiving my stuff, and approving it...

So, yeah, by the wording, they've more than likely met everything. But yes, if I wasn't so used to how rebate work, I might agree that your expectation should have been different.

And no, rebates shouldn't work this way. I said in one of the other threads that when you buy something from Newegg/Amazon, since they are so big anyway, everything regarding your rebate should automatically go to the rebate center.

For instance, if you get a SquareTrade extended warranty - ST is in direct contact with Amazon. Since amazon/Newegg promote/advertise these MIRs, it'd be nice if they had some even minor level of involvement to make the process smoother.

I mean, it took EVGA's processing center almost two weeks to even receive my mail (supposedly). I bet they can received my info from Amazon by e-mail in two minutes. And, honestly, WTH do they need the UPC for anyway?

So this is nothing to be alarmed about. In that case, it's a little disappointing that the rebate process feels so unreliable to me doing it the first time. Thanks for the reassurance.

I agree that it would be great if retailer's had a greater presence in the rebate process. If rebates were so reliable that they would just work, I could even imagine a retailer becoming extremely popular if it turned a regular MIR into an instant MIR and giving you the final price. It would be insanely convenient, and that retailer would become the new ye olde Newegg.

I had an intel rebate through 4myrebate and I did the fast option too. I sent it in decemeber. I got it a week ago.

They may be #1 in customer satisfaction (loyalty/satisfaction), but the funny thing is, they still throttle your queue.

Have three discs to mail back? Can fit in one envelope?

Send one envelope! But, wait, Netflix received all three back, but on three different days? Sure, they send the next disc right as they "receive" your last disc, but they obviously received other two when they received the first one. But, in order to serve you worse and give you fewer discs, they may... delay "receiving" (well, processing that they've received the disc already) silently by a day or two your disc(s), so they can send you fewer discs during your monthly subscription rate than if they were sending them as they actually did receive them.

So, even the #1 company out there in customer satisfaction will pull this garbage to assure you get less for your money.

And yes, I've had the eight discs out at a time mega-plan, giving them as much money per month as they will accept... and they still pull this garbage.

One time they pulled this garbage for so long on a disc that I called them on it. While it miraculously appeared the next day, I was under the impression that in their database the disc got caught in limbo. How does that happen? Well, if I send a disc back and they delay "receiving" it for a few days... Does it actually sit in a "process these in two days" box, or does it actually get processed immediately, and get sent to the next customer immediately as well?

I think the latter, and if so, that can mean I've sent the disc back to them, they've received it, send it to the next customer. But their system will show that the next customer has the disc... but also that I still have that disc, too.

Unfortunately sometimes you have to take the step of reporting a disc as "lost". While this sounds fine, it actually causes Netflix to submit an inquiry/investigation to the postal service, since they supposedly lost it. Never mind you're positive that Netflix has received it, send it to the next customer, but this fact got lost in their shuffle of giving their customers less service that they're paying for.

yeah, yeah, streaming makes this all a moot point...

Rebates are pretty shitty. They hype you up & say oh oh here is free 30 dollars off your product but in reality they almost all stiff you. I ve read alot that Galaxy sucks for giving rebates as well as many other companies. Im worried about my 20.00 from sapphire. Ive heard they suck for rebates also

i am waiting for about 75$ worth of MIR from them - my claim was denied the first time for the wrong barcode and i was never even notified via email.... thank god i emailed them and got a response. will try to let you know if this follow up works or if everyone should stay away from galaxy rebates.

I had to get the galaxy reps to help get my rebate approved. They advertised both as valid but they both ended up requiring the original upc.

i went thought some hoops but I have recently been approved for my 2 rebates and will try to update when i receive them...
