NEC 23" 1080p eIPS $170 shipped

Got mine delivered and been testing it out. Hooked it up via DP and set it to sRGB. No calibration done yet. Granted this is my first IPS panel - been using VA panels for years, but so far I'm very happy with this screen. No dead pixels and very minimal bleeding.

One of the best $168 spent. :D Thanks again OP!

Damn, Fedex was supposed to deliver my 3 monitors today but I think the snow screwed things up. I should get them tomorrow.: )

I'm gonna sell my Dell 2407wfp if I really like these monitors. Anyone interested?

darn you sparkie, I'm jealous. My HP ZR24w cost $400 last year; I'd rather have two of these for about the same price.

After someone posted the reseller ratings, I sent an Email to cancel. Replied back that once the order was sent to their "supplier", it could not be canceled, but that I could refuse shipment and yadda yadda.

I guess since most of you think they are legit, Ill let the order pass and hopefully enjoy the beauty of IPS.

Pretty stoked.

If you read the professional review, they tested the response time themsevles and say its closer to 8-10ms vs. the 14ms advertised by NEC. So this will hopefully turn out to be a great gaming monitor with little blur.

Did anyone else order from their website? I still have not got confirmation of shipment, but have received the invoice for the order.

some are people worried about Datavis.. I can tell you don't put too much of hassle on it, they ain't that bad as some of you think..

I order couple laptops from them, delivered quite fast and good packaging.

Same here. I ordered it from datavision through amazon and it still says it's "shipping soon" even though I ordered it on the 1st. I'm probably calling them tomorrow to see what the hell is taking them so long.

I ordered on the actual datavision website. They had a coupon so it was a bit cheaper, but nothing on shipment yet.

I made an error when I gave them my credit card, and didn't catch it until the item was removed.

My order hasn't shipped yet. :(

I did call Buy.com and they said they're trying to find a distributor to fill existing orders with no ETA. They also seem to be giving $20 gift certificates as an inconvenience fee.

Datavision's reply

"Hi,

I am very sorry for the delay and the issue with this particular item. We oversold on them and they are in transit to us from NEC. We anticipate receiving them in 3-5 business days. We can cancel the order if you do not wish to wait. I am sorry again for the delay and the issue as well as the inconvenience it has caused. If you do wish to cancel please reply and I will do this for you."

Obviously I'm not going to cancel so I guess I just have to wait. Should be easy because it's not like I needed a new monitor, I just wanted one, especially at this price for an IPS haha.

vtx, yeah I would have gone that route but for some reason my order didn't go through. Just wound up going through amazon.

Still waiting, here. Ordered the 1st no activity as of the 7th. I sent them a nice, calm message asking about the delay and have not received a response like Chowder Head got.

Finally got these all set up. Calibrated them and they look gorgeous. I hope you guys get your orders soon (Pic is from my Phone, sorry):

i just called buy.com for mine, the nice Indian dude told me there is no ETA on when it'll ship and gave me a $10 gift certificate

I got one of these the last time they showed up on [H]ot|Deals. It's a very good gaming monitor. I notice no ghosting when playing BFBC2 and TF2 whereas I have noticed it older IPS panels. Colors are great, especially when you take a few minutes to calibrate it. Only negative about mine is that one subpixel is stuck, but I hardly notice it anymore.

Any of you that jumped on the deal using three of them for Eyefinity/Surround? Looks like SeegsElite might be... Amongst those of you, anyone think 23" is too short (i.e. narrow) for gaming when using them in portrait mode? I know it's probably hard to judge when you got 'em so cheap and you have nothing to compare to, nonetheless...

I'm trying to decide whether I should get three of these (kicking myself for missing on the deal!) or two 1920x1200 24" HP ZR24Ws (to pair them with my existing 24" display). It costs about the same either way and in addition to being slightly larger I think the HP is a slightly better display, but the rub is that I'll probably lose bezel management in pairing them with my existing display...

You aren't losing much room with the screen being just an inch smaller. I doubt you'll notice a huge difference between a 23" and 24" monitor. Also most people use eyefinity in landscape mode and there you will see an even smaller size gap. For the price this monitor is truly spectacular.

And yes, I'm using 3 of the Nec's in eyefinity.

I think it's actually about 1.25" smaller, but that's including the bezels, I dunno if either of those have thicker or thinner bezels... I should probably find out. I know I'll probably use them in landscape mode more than portrait but there's some games I'd really like to be able to play in portrait (strategy/RPG) even if most of the games out right now for in those genres don't support Eyefinity too well. I'd hope the displays last me a good 5-6+ years and I'm hopeful Eyefinity compatibility will improve with time. :p

I'd probably care more about bezel management in portrait mode than landscape mode too...

I have 3xDell U2311H panels for nvsurround, coming from 1xDell 2407WFP. I played with the 3 U2311Hs in portrait mode just for fun and noticed that I would definitely pony up more $$$ if I were intending to use them in portrait mode and not landscape mode. In landscape mode they are great.

IMHO 16:10 > 16:9 for nvsurround/eyefinity in portrait mode. Hands down.

EDIT: You won't/shouldn't lose bezel management.

I also ordered on the 8/1 and still waiting. Datavis claims not to have any in stock, but then, why are they still listed on Buy.com with "1-2 shipping," and on their own website, says "In Stock". Wondering, if they are just waiting it out for people to get frustrated, cancel and sale them for a higher price.

Edit: Just called Buy.com and customer support says it's going to be shipped out by end of today, but their website hasn't shown any changed.

Edit2: Called Buy.com again and got a different response. No clue on ship status. I am guessing stupid first cust. dude just saw "1-2 day to ship" and didn't realized it has been saying that since 8/1 even though I specifically told him.

Datavis gets its reseller rating not for nothing.

I talked to them today to see what's up with my order. Guy said they are backordered and should ship in 3-5 days

Wish it were bigger than 23" for gaming. I can't stand anything smaller than 25"... I feel like I can't see anything.

The one I ordered showed up a couple days ago. Don't think it's been used yet, don't know. (Isn't for me, not where I am)

just an update... my order from amazon marketplace (placed on 2/1/2011) just shipped. yes, 28 days later.

I don't get why they're posting they got the screen too. That was known back on 02/13. Why bump it up again?

the people who got their displays were probably the ones who ordered from buy.com (the original deal). however after buy.com went out of stock, a similar price appeared on amazon marketplace for a few dollars more. afaik my post was the first report of a successful amazon marketplace purchase. i posted it to let others who had placed an amazon marketplace order that they should be expecting a charge on their credit cards (my card wasn't charged until today) and that they were actually going to get their monitors (the wait was 4 weeks, it's possible some people forgot about it lol)
