How often do these go on sale anyways? I scrolled this thread and see a lot of people say they get it for like 100 off.

Welp. I purchased one of these locally.
He claims to have had this monitor since December 2010. But under the box it says 2010 04 16. Probably meaning the monitor was packed since that date. The box says Revision A01. There's no serial sticker on the monitor whatsoever. Are these monitors supposed to have a sticker on the back of them? Proceeding further, I installed the ISP 2.0 checker and my firmware says m1f19.
Everything looks fine though. From what I can tell there's no backlight bleed whatsoever and no dead pixels. I am probably screwed out of warranty though since he had no invoice.
There is pullout tab behind the usb ports that lists the serial number.
A small amount of difference is normal, yes. With usage it's also normal that the back light dims over time. So, if you use one screen a lot more than the other, you could expect the more used screen to be a bit darker at the same brightness level.is it normal for these monitors to have slightly different brightness levels? I have a pair where one is just a little darker than the other at the same brightness level and have to adjust it up. I'm not sure if I'm just imagining it or if it is the angle of view
Keep in mind I never ever have ordered a u2410 from Dell, but yet the order # shows up associated with my account and it says the order number has been cancelled. However, I am able to use the order number and the rep told me that the warranty is only good for one year.
I kinda lied and said I had a few dead pixels when I don't. So, I am kind of worried that they'll check the monitor when they receive it and cancel my warranty status or even charge me. But, I had to do this since it's the only way to see if I could get warranty.
Still not sure what the purpose of all this was. You lied to the lady about dead pixels when there was nothing wrong with the monitor. Are you planning to get it replaced?
That's the classic tint issue.. Search this thread for "tint" if you want to know more. Briefly, it appears to relate to flaws in LG's manufacturing process for IPS panels. Some screens are more-or-less free of the issue, many have it mildly, and some severe. Your U2410's colour uniformity is purely luck of the draw. You can compensate for tint (slightly) by adjusting the gain controls in custom mode. However, until the day LG perfect their IPS panels, or Dell implement proper uniformity controls (Such as Eizo's "DUE" or NEC's "Colorcomp") there is unfortunately no "fix" possible that I'm aware of.My screen is red-ish in the bottom right, and blue-ish in the top left. Anyone else have this problem?
No. If anything it'll make your screen quality worse. Stay away from other peoples generated profiles. The U2410 already comes with 2 calibrated profiles (Adobe and sRGB mode) making that stuff even more of a waste of time than the waste of time it usually is. If you're still not happy with how things look then adjusting the colour settings in Custom Mode (despite its problems), or even just running the Windows software calibration tool (Control Panel / Color Management / Advanced / Calibrate Display) would probably be more useful than using another screens calibrated results. Otherwise buy a hardware calibration device.Second, I'd like to calibrate my monitor with one of the color profiles from TFT central, is this recommended?
The service menu will show you how long the monitor has been on for. To activate it, turn off the monitor, hold down the 2nd and 4th button from top and press the power button. Once you see the all the LEDs light up, press the top button. They shipped the replacement overnight and it's a A04, Dec 2010. It looks brand new. How do you recognize a refurb? There is no "refurb" sticker or anything like that.

You should see a blue factory menu and in it should be a "Back Light On Time" or just "Time" in hours and minutes.
Dell overnighted me my replacement monitor and I'm testing it out side-by-side with my previous. They differences are insane. It still has the bottom-left IPS "glow", but the color uniformity is much much better. My previous was very cool everywhere except the bottom right where is was very warm. The new one has a slight gradient of cool to warm going left to right that you can see on a white background, but it's still much better. I'll try to post comparison shots. New monitor was manufactured January 2011.
How does the replacement work? mail back your old one? Dell made you a new one? Who paid shipping?
Does that service last the whole three years?
