iSymphony LC42iF56 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV $340

$432 shipped for a used monitor from someone named "itbiteme" with no seller history?

I'd rather pay a little more for new straight from a reputable seller like Amazon.

Sweet, under $400 shipped with a 4-yr SquareTrade warranty!

My mom's birthday is Friday. Got it for Sat shipping, fastest I could. Day late, but I'm sure she'll be surprised!

(I also won't be shocked if she tells me to send it right back...)

My mother just keeps anything we get her in the original packaging (never opened). :p

Well, I've been discussing with her to give her my 37" Westy for her computer so that she can read better what's on the screen. So, she's either getting my 37" Westy or this 42" iSymphony.

Preferably both. I'm tired of spending time burning WS 720p/1080i/1080p HD programming for her onto DVD, just so she can watch it on some SD TV. I'll get her one of those Western Digital tv thingies, then just put the stuff on USB thumbdrives, saving me the 2hr/disc time of re-encoding into DVD format for nothing.

Next thing to explain though is why her SD cable... is still in SD. (Oh, explain WTH SD is first, of course...) I'll probably just get her a $30 antenna, and she'll love watching the local news and CSI in HD. Oops, then to explain to her that her VCR basically just instantly became useless/worthless...
