Eugh. Raced out ZR1's are fucking boring. They turn too slowly, and accelerate too wildly to be any fun. F my life.

I used my race modded ZR1 that I already had for that event. I won very easily.

To make a fully modded RM zr1 more drivable be sure to put soft racing tires, full downforce, and really long gear ratios. Also going through low speed turns a gear higher makes throttle inputs a little forgiving.

And as always lower it, stiffen the springs and dampers equally, and give it gobs of front and rear camber.

I just used a fully upgraded ZR1 RM with default tuning. Drives just fine as long as you're not stupid with the throttle inputs.

To have fun, I HAD to be stupid with the throttle inputs, and little dabs of oppo. Otherwise, it was the most boring drive i've had since I got out of the first round of events...

Seriously awful.

Now, the FGT and the Peugeot HDI... <3

I'm looking for a nice race sim similar to Gran Turismo but for PC. Is Dirt 2, NfS Shift or Grid the closest I can get?
If you want a GT style career mode, then yes, those are pretty much the closest you can get (throw in F1 2010 as well if you like formula racing). If you can do without it and just want a pure racing sim, you can get Race 07 and its expansions or rFactor. If you're willing to pay a subscription fee, there's also iRacing.com for online racing.

Love my 908
Recently got the Toyota GTone and it is without question the fastest car thats not the X2010, F1 or FGT

My GTone leaves 908's and R10's in the dust.

Might have to check that out. i've been on a real psycho car kick :D

Not sure I'll ever get there unless they have more seasonals. The endurance events just aren't my cup of tea.

The sad thing is that I'd probably consider them if I could save and go back to them another time. :D

Anyone have an X2010 they'd be willing to send? I can pay back with something you're looking for if I have it.

Bought a Ford Mark IV Race Car '67 and got the "Penniless" trophy. :)

When I hit 20m cr, I started douping. Started with all 3 of the 20m cars and then worked my way down to every car over 1m in the dealership. These days its just grabbing up the goodies from the UDC.

WOW. Most fun you can have in this game is probably taking a caterham in the tuning car challenge. You really have to work for the win (10s lead over a 600hp GT1 s2k :D )

If you play with the mute on. The fireblade has the worst exhaust note.

Well if my math is right...

I need 7,561,442 xp needed for lvl 40.
I get 9,819 xp earned ~per race.
It'll take about 770.08 races.
Each race is about 8 minuets.
So thats about 6,160.6 minutes / 102.67 hours / 4.27 days to lvl 40.

Well thats without stopping to spend 20 million credits or gifting cars or Seasonal Events.

Oh and Omega should check his GT5 community gift section. ;)

I picked this up the other day and started to play, been on GT since the first one came out on the old playstation (still got my saves on the memory card)

I am a fan of the series, but not an overly obsessed fanboy. So far my impression:
Graphics are nice (some of the shadows I have noticed jaggies)
Gameplay is similar to previous games, so its familiar.
I dont ever remember the AI being as bad as this one is.
B-spec = boring. I made a driver and gave him my GT-86 with basic improvements (intake, exhaust, chip, sports flywheel/clutch). Every race I am entering him in, I hit the "Pace Down" until he passes the pack (within the first lap) then I walk away and he still wins.

I am still fairly early in this game (A-8, B-5), but so far it has made me happy. I like to buy cars I like, upgrade them, race them, tweak the settings. It does that.

And what about wheels, better than controller? Suggestions on brands/models?

That's some hardcore grinding right there, would make any MMO fan shudder ;)

You should listen to the Mitsubishi i-MiEV '09

You rock and I love you.

And jebus, this car is sick and wrong in EVERY WAY.

Took a few laps to get used to how fast the throttle and turning inputs end up with results... And learning to ignore the racing lines was TOUGH.

It is better. If you play the older GT games, you will realize that the AI interaction with themselves is improved. In the old GT games, the AI drivers only "saw" themselves on the track. However, the AI drivers still do not "see" you on the track. They do a better job of detecting your presence in GT5 but they still suck at it.

And what about wheels, better than controller? Suggestions on brands/models?

I highly suggest playing with a wheel. In fact, I won't play GT games without a wheel. The ability to feel and precisely control steering input is valuable. Also, controlling accelerating and braking is easier using pedals. Unlike GT1-3, you can't mash the pedals and turning the wheel to full lock in a corner and play well.

As for wheel suggestions, the Logitech G25/27 is a common wheel used. I have the G27 and would recommend it.

Damn... the new seasonal events are HORRIBLE...
After I finish grinding to 40 I may have to get a wheel just to stay interested... :(
