Would you guys consider this the "ultimate" portable gaming? Looking to get one with i7, 8GB of ram (can I get this elsewhere...a price tag of 350 extra is sort of...retarded when you can get ram for cheaper I believe...) put in my own SSD most likely.

Games I'll be playing:

DCUO (most demanding I'd assume)
SC2

it's a nice little machine, not sure if they fixed the hinge problem yet. But I would wait for a refresh cause.. gpu is now 2 gens old

Looking at a refurb for 1k ;) but yea I might wait to see what comes out of it. I'd of course be buying the 4 year warranty with complete care and Dell has been pretty good to me. + in the past if I had any sort of problems I'd just contact my gold support team at work and they'd always take care of me.

My refurbed R2 arrived yesterday. Got it for under $700 (i5-520, 4GB, 250GB HD) and will be upgrading to 8GB RAM and a larger HD.

All in all, it was worth it. Games run surprisingly well: I was astonished it could run Oblivion at 1366x728 maxed. It looks and feels basically like a miniturized and rubberized m17x. The only problem I noticed straight away is that the screen is extremely bad (contrast, glossy, viewing angles). With a better screen, I'd give it a 10/10 as an ultraportable gaming laptop; as it is, I'd give it a 7/10.

I'd say if you can get an R1 or R2 refurbed for a good price, do it. If you're planning on buying new, I'd hold off for a refresh.

FedEx L O S T MY M11x.

After 2 calls to Dell and 3 calls to fedex, who knows how many hours lost- FedEx found it and set me up with "saturday shipping" but it's shipping to work not my house!! "sorry sir, we can't change the delivery address sir."

Guess I'll be at the office tomorrow...

Regardless, I can't wait to get a hold of it. With the Segate Momentius XT 500gb, and 6gb ram- it should be a great laptop for my mobile needs.

I needed a platform that I could always have with me, and weight is a major problem with me to keep all my company & personal email straight. (And the occasional game or 2.)
