im going to be splashing out shrewdly as i need three monitors 27'' and the amd website recommended the radeon HD 6850.
I have no experience building pcs before,,,what motherboard do i need to support this?
I thinkg im going to need 3GB memory+to support the number of applications I will have open.
what about the video card?1 what type will i need.
what cases will support the radeon HD 6850 because i have no idea.
im budgeting £400 and basically need the large memory,,,64bit hopefully and capable graphics card and/or video cards to run the three monitors.
I think my video card needs to have two dvi and one DP,,then I have to buy an £80 adapter aparantly....
Im presuming that the Radeon HD 6850 just gives me the possibilty to run it at eyefinty at som epont in the future,,but what extra cost is it to get eyefinity,,,do I have to have two dvi to DP adapters and use the other native one or is a case of just using the one DP port with the video card and it uses that main monitor to expand on the others even though theyre dvi.
so £125 graphic card as I will be using office applications alot as well as high powered software,,,,the bonus of gaming which is not essential at this point as i need to work primerily as soon as possible on the pc,,,,and in the future i expect to play good dvd blu ray movies..(so this graphics card is good for all that),,,£80 adapter DP to dvi or i might not even need it :s if im running eyefinity. im presuming ultramon which ive already bought could just work in eyefinity and save me the £40 on an adapter(presuming there is nothing else to buy to run eyefinity and just the,,drivers downloaded).
I amprobably wrong and I will probably need the adapter.
Please help though,,,which case should I get?!
to build a pc,,,this is how far my knowledge expands: case,,motherboard,,,errrm,,,chip(i7 intel or whatever),,,memory,,,video card,,graphics card,,,,power supply,,,,IS THAT IT?,,,,and something to house myself when building it lol,,i dont know,,is that the only barrier to building a pc,,,I will obviosly need a screwdriver! :p

one more question,,,i think i know the answer but would(if need necessary) the radeon graphics card support eyefinity alone with a motherboard and an intel processor?

thanks!,,,I have spent about a year or two casually taking interest into building a pc,,,alot of people claim it is easy,,and hopefully I have grasped the basics.

one laaast question though,,what determines the Ghz of the overall pc is it just the processor you buy to go on the motherboard?
also on what budget can people these days get 7.9 rating? cheers

From what I can gather from your questions and statements i would not recommend you build a PC from scratch. If you have a hardware or software problem you will have no support. would recommend buying a descent pre-built computer with the potential of being upgradeable. Then as hardware becomes available you could upgrade any part to increase your performance. hope this is helpful.

By the way a 7.9 rateing would require somewhere in the 4000 to 5000 area if not more. Would require a raid setup of SSD harddrives, Crossfire video, Very fast Ram, highly OC'ed or extreme intel CPU and then even then you may not obtain 7.9. Also no one pays much attention to the Windows index anyway

My only question is then,,,do I have to have an AMD processor to run the radeon 6850 graphics card and run eyefinity?

No you don't. As long as you have a PCI-Express slot you can use any video card with any chip.

That being said, you should look into the 6950/6970 (unless you can find the 6850/6870 really cheap), since they are a bit higher in performance.

6950 are more expensive than 6850 though....
i dont understand what your saying,,,the 6850 are like £120 to 6950's 220£ so ehat are you saying? :p

He's basically saying that while the 6850 does support eyefinity the kinds of resolutions that you use in eyefinity are demanding and you would need a faster video card to handle them.

video card? graphics card,,,,???? i wasnt even considering buying a graphics card! does ultramon work in eyefinity. sometimes i feel like a dumbass losting here lol

the AMD website recommended the 6850 as compatible to run eyefinity when I told it I would be doing extreme gaming,,intermediate work,,,and internmediate multimedia, something like that.

I was looking at putting parts together and some custmom build pcs didnt even have a video card so now its back to the drawing board figuring out the difference between a video card and raphics card. lol any help here? ''.

There is no difference. Graphics card is just another name for video card (though I don't think I've ever really heard it called a graphics card).
