NEC 23" 1080p eIPS $170 shipped

Made an account just to tell you guys about this (and man that takes a lot of work with all the e-mails that are blocked).

It was available at pcrush.com for $173 shipped, with up to 4% cash back, after it was already out at buy.com, but now this appears to be dead as well. :(

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi anyway. I recently got $450 Best Buy credit to buy a monitor and have been frequenting the monitor section here trying to figure stuff out. Ended up with a viewsonic VP2365WB cause I wanted to try IPS but was looking for a second monitor because I need more than just 1080p res. This was a welcome find.

I'll probably put up some compare/contrast notes on the two once I get them. :)

Just ordered one this morning, along with my u2410 that i ordered over the weekend. Thank you so much op, made my day

I ordered 3 and I just received notice of shipment and got my tracking numbers. I was nervous for a while that buy.com was going to cancel my order.

OP here, grats to those that got in on time! Oh and when they come in, don't forget to takes some pix for the LCD thread or Eyefinity thread to show them boys off. If I didn't already have 2 U2410's and a 2407, I'd a picked up 3 myself for my eyefinity setup. Enjoy!

damn, double missed opportunities. Gratz to those who managed to get their orders in.

Bought the one on Amazon. It comes out to like $15 more, but considering I was about to spend $400 on a ZR24w and this will be fine for their purposes at about half the cost out the door, still a good deal.

Awesome, I wish I could have your patience so today i could buy 2 nec instead of u2410+nec. Anyway, would u mind if i ask did you get tracking information yet?

Thanks

Nope, just ordered it tonight, no tracking. I can update this post when I get tracking info though.

I used my friend's iphone, and it is still available on the mobile Buy.com site. It is sold through datavis, and it is $176.30 with shipping. I was able to purchase 2. I'm sorry, I don't have the link.

They are still in stock here for $184+sh... not that much more.... good price for 23" IPS panels, wow!

Awesome monitor, I use these at work (NEC Anyways, not sure if they are the same model but they are 23/24 at work) Definitely bright and vivid compared to Samsung.

Great follow-up deal, even at $184 shipped it's a no brainer.

And in case the skimmers missed it, here it is again for $184 shipped at Amazon

Says it's $189 for me. Not a deal breaker though, still trying to decide if I should nab one lol.

I find it a little odd that DataVision (the seller) showed only one in stock when I ordered about 3 hours ago, yet it's still in stock now...

I really didn't need a monitor but I ordered this anyway lol.

Anyway, not sure if this will work later or not but it may be worth a shot.

If you go here: http://www.datavis.com/cgi-bin/product.cgi?prrfnbr=515142&site=GOGL and enter the code "DATAVIS10" you could get it for a much cheaper price. It was $167 total for me BUT the order didn't go through so I wound up ordering it from amazon. Still, if someone wants it cheaper it wouldn't hurt to try.

What do you mean it didn't go through? It just worked for me. I got the order confirmation page

I dunno. I put it in my cart, starting checking out through paypal and when I submitted the order an error page came up. Tried it again, same thing. Not sure why. But good on you if you got it.

Hmm, yeah didn't even look at their ratings. Now I'm a little nervous but still hoping for the best. Matrices, did you cancel your order through amazon? I just looked to see if it was an option but instead it said: "This portion of your order is being prepared for shipment and cannot be canceled or changed."

Yeah Amazon always has that bullshit message. I contacted the seller directly through Amazon, which is what Amazon's own website advises, and notified my credit card company to reject any charges.

It's definitely not being "prepared" for shit because it said there would be a 2-3 day delay before it ships.

Think you guys are doing a bit too much overthinking... the amazon seller datavision has a very good rating so the resellerratings site is probably a clone/copycat wannabe or just a same name website.... plus they have a store on 5th ave in NYC right near the NYC library, you're being a bit paranoid :p

That's possible. Or they abandoned their own name/site. Who knows? I'm just going to follow "if it's too good to be true" principle and "I've never even heard of this place" principle, personally.

Yeah I'm going to roll with it. Least I paid with my Amex so I'm kind of protected. You think amazon would do something if something went wrong since the order was placed through their site? Or since they are essentially the middle man they really couldn't do much?

Sounds like you've got the bases covered... amazon to call, and if anything were to actually happen (doubtful) then you can always call Amex if amazn bails out on the deal which they've never done with me anyways

Long live IPS!!!

Prices have fallen rapidly lately w000t

And for anyone wondering, you would want to pick this panel over any similar TN (majority, if not all, panels at this price point =)

Probably too slow if you're bothered by ghosting.

I've used IPS panels for gaming for a while and I never noticed any ghosting whatsoever. Usually your refresh rates are only going to be 60Hz or 75Hz - meaning a 13ms response time should be more than adequate to cover at least a 60Hz refresh rate or even a 75Hz refresh rate.

(1000ms/60 or 75Hz)

I always thought this was the same as people wanting speakers with an incredibly high range (over 22-25KHz) when most adults cannot even hear over 12-15KHz.

Not at all. I totally understand what you're saying, but seeing ghosting is /easy/, the comparison is invalid.

Run that. Watch the little dude in the car, and mess with the buttons as it suggests. Any LCD will ghost visibly, just a question of how much. Generally speaking the higher the response time the more pronounced the ghosting will be.

Of course, once you see it it's very difficult to un-see it... so you might not want to run that after all.

I went from an 8ms rated P-MVA panel to my current 6ms rated H-IPS. Not a completely fair comparison since the P-MVA has inverse ghosting which some find more noticeable (I wasn't that bothered by it) but I can certainly tell a difference. I've used several panels even slower than that, and while they're fine for productivity work I wouldn't want to game on them.

Note that I'm not saying this particular display is completely unsuitable for gaming -- I don't have any first-hand experience with it yet, I'm just going by the stated response times and previous experience with a variety of other displays with various stated response times. If the 13ms stated is black to white response time, not gray to gray as is usually offered by manufacturers / sellers, it could be plenty fast in most cases. If it's gray to gray time, it's going to ghost pretty bad with fast motion.

Price is at $309 on the Datavis website now. Guess they weren't expecting so many people to jump on these

Tracking says it's out for delivery for today. Dang that was fast... Lol. We'll see when I get home tonight.

As for Datavis, like Dylan80 said above, they have a retail store in NYC. It is a legit business. I don't know about their online business, but I know a few guys that work there and they do hook me up time to time.

Yeah, the RR ratings were in all probability for some third-rate copycat company that disappeared, but I still submitted my cancellation and got confirmation.

Turns out that what I actually need are 22 or 23" LED TNs to go with the 27" LED TN I have on my top row of monitors. The 22" IPS I have will more than suffice for portrait mode on my bottom row.

My order from pcrush.com was canceled. :(

Was really looking forward to trying this monitor. Please let me know if anyone spots this deal again.

got mine from B&H in August for 290 I think, this is a great deal! Awesome monitor
