Defex and I have been hatching a plan.

The plan is to get [H]ard pimp hats to people that hit a large milestone.

Now we are not talking about the .jpg that I post when people hit 10 mil. What we want to do is get a real pimp hat to our [H]ard core folder as a thank you for what they have done for the team. We have cleared this with Kyle and are moving forward.

So what we are working on....

For those who make 25 mil folding for the [H] we are going to send them a [H]ard pimp hat. Shipping will be paid by myself or others who wish to help out with the program.

We are working on finding a vendor and customization currently.

Now I want to say a HUGE thank you to Defex for making this possible. Both with ideas and with funding. I'll let him say if he wants what he has pledged to thing, but let me just say it is a large amount. (I know who I'm nominating for DCer of the month for FEB.

Fold on, and stay [H]ard!

yeah only 5 million more to go to get my pimp hat. should knock that out fast.

When I reach 30 mil next week, I would proudly accept the .jpg should you deem me worthy. :)

Anyone who is over 25 mil can let us know and we will send one out.

I dont think you can send a pimp[H]at to everyone who is already past 25 mil or it will break the bank. (33 active people from what i can see)

I pledged $750 for the pimp[H]at plan, and Kendrak is doing the shipping. I want to be fair. do i do not want to DENY those people their [H]ats. but if they cost $10 each(just a random guess), then thats $330 gone already, and i thought it would be best as an incentive for folders to pass 25 million.

can anyone think of a way around this dilemma? (also its a lot of work to send out a whole crapload at once)

my idea is, that people above 25 million get another 25% on their points. which would spread things out a bit.

You do have a good point.

I will also say that probably only 1/3 of people that qualify will submit for em.

Should we up the points required? Or make it for people that have already passed 25 mil to hit 50 mil?
 
how about they get 25% more than they {[edit] have on the activation date of the pimp[H]at program} have to stay in the 25 theme. will spread things out a bit and make your life easier


also there should be an activation date. after the hats are made obviously :)

I think this is a great idea. Reach 10 million, get a virtual pimp hat, reach 25 million, get the real thing. If you need additional funds, I think people will be willing to donate.

I like the idea of a higher milestone for people above 25 million. It's going to be a challenge to balance the requirements so they are "fair" for both high PPD folders and long-time folders with lots of points but less current PPD ("fair" meaning that anyone who wants a pimp hat should have a chance to get one). For example, musky has 69 million points, and adding another 17 million should take him a little over a month. On the other hand, for FLECOM to add another 25 million to his 100 million would take almost 20 years at his current PPD.

I have an alternate idea, but it will be harder to implement. Instead of having a single pimp hat design, you could have several models, so there's one for 25 million, one for 50 million, and one for 100 million (and maybe an extra special hat for 250 million or beyond). The catch would be that a person can only get one hat, so they could either request a hat for reaching 25 million or wait and try for the 50 million (or 100 million) hat. I'm sure you don't want to buy a bunch of different hats, but maybe there are some subtle customizations that could be made to the hat for people with higher point totals.
 
That is a much smarter plan SazanEyes. It seems more fair, and i am sure we can add something to the hat. or get different colored ones that are compatible with the [H] part.

Time to break out the bedazzler Kendrak :)

you might want to slow down in case there are shipping problems (and i can catch up a bit)
 
I dont know if you can change the title it should be Pimp[H]at plan :)
 
Find out what they cost each and we can go from there.
I can help with the people who already qualify.
 
I will wait for 100 million and I'll take a hat at that time.

I'll pay for mine and add a little extra to the fund when I cross that milestone (I may send in the funds sooner as it looks like September before I cross 100 million).

 
what about like a trophy with a little pimp hat on the top? :p

I should be able to reach 25 million points before I reach 50,000 work units, but it will be close. Once you guys secure a source for the hat, I'll pay for my own as well.
 
At the rate people are racking up points, why not make it 50 or even 100mil for the hat?

50 might work, the issue is I want people to be able to get it, but have it be an upper lvl reward. I'm going to dig through the numbers and see how many people look like they will hit the 50 mil milestone taking into account point inflation and new chips. The SB chips seem to be fold-o-matics for the price you pay.

This is why I post this stuff, to get the idea nailed down.
 
for how quickly ive went form 500,000 to 5million i would definitely make it higher then 10million even though i do want the hat.

I'm with Nitro on this, 50 mil is a lot harder to get to even for those with relatively powerful rigs. It will take me 18months to get there at current rates:( I will be able to add to the fund in a couple of months though

I think it would be more meaningful to invest that money into something that helps the team more directly, like another hardware giveaway, but that's just me.

Others already have plans for this Zero.

This is something for us old dogs that have been around for a wile and want a new goal, no matter how silly it may be.

Ditto. My virtual is plenty. But far be it from me to rain on other peoples pimp hat parade.

As long as it doesn't become a scheme like EVGA bucks and people join [H] and fold just for the hats. ;)
 
What about adding a "Sponsor A Pimp" option to keep the idea funded even longer?
Rather than paying for your own, when you get a hat you could also choose to sponsor some young up and coming Pimp-to-be by purchasing the next hat.

A hearty thanks to Defex, Kendrack and gkanakis for finding original, longer-term goals to keep things interesting.

That would never work. Where would we find a corporate sponsor to sell overpriced B-Stock Pimp Hats? ;)
 
This is sounding a lot like TF2 now. We're going to have people spamming the forum with hat trading propositions and their favorite pimp hat photos.

I think what you guys should really do is figure out about how many hats should be given out in the next year (10, 25, 50, 100 etc.) and set a ppd goal based on looking at stats. It doesn't have to be super complicated.
