Microcenter: Sandy Bridge, i7 & i5 bundles

MC's 2500K + P8P67 Pro combo for $365 w/tax is still a lil' better if you were set on that mobo (unless you're also gonna buy Civ V soon), but it's not that much better. Newegg's combo deals are pretty close (or better in the case of the MSI mobos).

I was gonna put off my build 'till I visited some relatives in Denver next month (so I could swing by MicroCenter) but I think I'm just gonna jump on the Newegg combo while the rebates are good and that 15% memory discount is still running... Even with shipping to Puerto Rico it only ends up being like $10 more, totally worth it to not have to walk thru airport security with computer parts in a duffel bag. :p

I received an email from Micro Center today for a $25 coupon off any Intel Compatible board along with a few other coupons, 20% of DDR3/DDR2, 10% off cases, etc.. The P8P67-M Pro was not a part of their bundles, so with the coupon I got it for $125 + Tax.

It appears to be specific to my email address so when I printed it, it displayed at the bottom of the coupon.

The bundle they had last week was email specific as well. When i ask for them to price check and they couldn't find it. They eventually ask if i receive the promotion through email. Apparently it is through email but I found the info on this forum :)

I've signed up for the email deals from Microcenter a few times now over the last 2 weeks but never received any email offer, coupon, nothing.

Was looking to get in on the Asus P8P67 / i7 2600k combo for $439.98. But add on tax and it is $470.

With Newegg's combo at $495, makes much more sense to get it from Newegg. Not worth $25 to drive to Microcenter and deal with the hassle.

Link to the combo? I'm not finding it.

thanks in advance

Thanks.

I guess what I am not getting/seeing is the P8P67 / i7 2600k combo, I've been all over those combo pages today ;)

I'm soooo glad there is NOT a MC anywhere near me. Honest, I would be more broke than I already am! Way too many deals that I am FORCED to pass on. Whew!

Thanks.

Just go to the i7 2600k page and browse the combos. The link is near the bottom, or this should be a direct link. You'll see the i7 2600k and the p8p67 pro for $499.98 Must have gone up $5 in the last few hours. And newegg scrapped the free shipping as well. Forget it. Guess I'll swing by Microcenter now. Microcenter more like $40 cheaper now. I'll drive over there for that. Deal's gone, but here's the newegg link anyway Now it will be about $510 when you factor in the shipping vs. $470 at Microcenter:

If the closet MC wasn't 3hours away, I'd go myself!

Anyone know if a bundle with the 2600 (NON K) and the intel extreme board (that supports vt-d) ?

I got the coupon too and decided to pick up the Asus P8P67 Pro I was waiting to get with my tax refund. Now, the coupon SAYS $25 off an Intel MB, so with the Asus at $190 that SHOULD have been $165 +tax. Instead, it rang up at $142.50! Both me and the cashier were astonished, but he just said "oh well" and I was out the door. Reading the reciept, it says "your total savings: $47.50" so the coupon, for me at least, rings up as 25% off instead of $25 off. So, you might want to think about using it if you thought it was only $25 off. As always, ymmv.

So now I picked up the 2600k for $280 two weeks ago and the MB for $142.50, Gskill Sniper 1333 (8GB) on the way from Newegg (15% off deal) for $72.50, and the Corsair A70 cooler from Best Buy for $27, for a total of $522 +tax. Not a bad upgrade cycle.

It's in-store only, bar coded with the recipient's registered email, and print once with no duplicates allowed. So if you didn't get one in your email, you're out of luck unless someone who did get it gives you the print-out.

Does someone mind posting the URL to generate the coupon?

I bought this deal...

Intel i5 2500K w/ Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3 LGA 1155 P67 MOBO - $290!

Love MC... Great deals and the sales tax is only 3.5% instead of 7%... That adds up, too.

Can anyone post a copy of this 25% off coupon off of an intel based board? I called MC national and they never heard of it...

I almost bit on the 2500k / P8P67 but opted for the 2600k instead. My bro got the 2500k deal though and he's in love. He was coming from a Phenom 9850 rig.

deal for 2500k w/ ASUS P8P67 pro for $339 is still good , got it last night . its not advertised but if you ask them to check . also i went with the intention of buying a different board, the pro was not showing as in stock @ the store i went to online, but when i got there they had a nice table setup with a bunch of P67 boards.

Yes. The Asus pro board an the 2500K is still being offered, although not in literature, for $339 at their B&M stores. Cleveland store was still advertising that combo in the store as of a couple of days ago.

Nice board...once you get the BIOS flashed.

Why are people still buying the Asus P8P67 Pro after all the issues reported on this forum? Has a new BIOS update fixed everything?

 Uh, it's on page 28 of their e-ad or page 13 of the real paper ad.

I dunno, I've seen some issues but nothing that was a deal breaker, same for the MSI that [H] reviewed... And it's little brother, the GD55, which I ordered yesterday. Too good to pass up at $130 after MIR, all it's missing compared to the GD65 is e-SATA. FWIW, with Newegg's combo pricing it's actually the best deal around if you don't mind the MIR, like $320 after rebate vs $377 after taxes at MC for the ASUS Pro combo.

What puzzles me are the people buying Gigabyte SB mobos with that awful BIOS and no decent Windows OC tool, they've not even cheap.

Starting to sound like there aren't any Sandybridge motherboards without some kind of problem...

Because it is the best board in terms of performance/price. I am more than positive that most people bought Asus boards.

After fully reading through this thread, I'm not sure I'd risk the Asus board.

Cold boot issues.
Random lockups.
Screeches from integrated sound.
Picky about RAM.
Marvel SATA controller (blue ports) basically unusable.
Possible issues with sleep mode.
etc.

Seems like you're just asking for headaches with one of these.

So what's a good alternative?

At a glance, the MSI P67-GD65 and it's little brother the P67-GD55 seem to be more solid choices.

...Then again, Kyle did have the P67-GD65 corrupt an SSD beyond repair in the [H] review. Not sure if that was a freak coincidence or a serious (and repeatable) problem, and I don't imagine anyone wants to risk a stack of SSD's to find out,

ive got my 2500k up to 4.8 @1.355 vcor using prime95 , it likes my cheap ssd , it boots into windows much faster than my X58 . the color blocks barely get to form the windows icon and im on desktop .
did have an issue at first trying to get it up and running using a ati x1050 gpu ( udated bios , cmos resets etc , for 4 hours) , swapped the ati out for a 8600gt and its up and running.(9600gt was sold with C2Q setup)

this ram @ 1.5125 , and set the timings after flashing to bios 1204 . only issue so far was the gpu not being detected right . priming @ 4.5 - 1.255 v - 59c

Great, so now we're not sure if it has issues with some PCIe cards or not... you never got that ATi card working?
