Corsair: 650D

I'm guessing that's based off the price of the Define R3 which is around $110

Shipping from nUS is ridiculous and they seem like the only place that sell them.
$50 for shipping increases the price rather quickly. Brand recognition is very important to me since I resell a lot.
Corsair is the better choice for my needs but Fractal makes very nice cases. 2x140mm in the front is awesome.

It will be @ Newegg in April.

The Corsair cases look very nice and have some great features. But when you have another option that's delivering similar product @ 100% less cost, it's tough to recommend one. The Lian Li PC-9F looks to be a solid offering as well, but it's $150.

So, is it weird that I'm considering ordering one of these for my Sandy Bridge rebuild when my current rig is in the 800D?

To clarify, I'm on pure air cooling and my house doesn't have A/C.

My alternative is modding an extra fan or two into the 800D. Maybe putting a 140mm or even a 200mm on the window or something. I'm mostly just worried about my videocards. Right now, with it being the winter, I'm fine, I'm just worried now that I have SLI again I might have heat issues in the summer since there isn't a lot of air movement inside the 800D in that particular region of the case.

If you're looking for a smaller case, you've got the new 650D as well as a Lian Li PC-9F and Fractal ARC MIDI to choose from.

If all you need is cooling, grab a dremel...the 800D's a cavern.

Case look's amazing for a mid tower and great price as well! I'd take this over a HAF any day!

Nice prices. I thought it wasn't available til April.

Reading the listings it doesn't sound like it will be available for at least a few weeks. I've ordered a couple of things from ProVantage and had good experiences in the past so I looked there first, and it's listed as a special order item that won't be available for three to four weeks.

The interior space on the 800D/700D was intentional to accommodate large watercooling components internally. The top can house a super-thick 360 radiator and push-pull fans without encroaching on the motherboard area, and the bottom cage can easily be drilled out for a super thick 240mm radiator.

We're looking at making that easier and more efficient on future models though.

Oh my god please don't. My wallet would kill me :D:D

Why not? Fractal ARC MIDI's $100 less and offers FAR better cooling and a smaller, lighter case.

Well let's be fair, neither case has gone out for review yet so "FAR better cooling" is a bit unfair.

The fact that it's smaller can be a plus or a minus, depending on your viewpoint.

I like the Fractal Arc midi, but comparing it to the 650D is kind of like comparing apples to oranges - they're two different cases designed to do two different things.

The 650D has 8 PCI-E slots, much more room for internal watercooling, an actual aluminum front fascia instead of textured plastic, support for 200mm fans as well as 120/140mm, arguably superior cable routing, tool free optical drive bays, etc, etc.

I think they're two very different cases targeting two very different price points, and the features that one case has and the other does not are apparent in that pricing.

If people are debating between the Arc midi and the 650D, that means the cases really aren't all that different in the eyes of consumers. No one's getting the 650D to water cool anyway...that's a joke. People are considering these cases cause they want an "elegant" box that isn't overly big with good airflow. As far as that is concerned, both the 650D and Arc fit that bill. The Arc is more elegant (they're actually using some nice feet too...something I'd like to see corsair do) and probably does have better airflow. As far as quality, who knows. I would assume the 650D is going to be better built.

Are the fans in the 600T and 650D the same or different? I do know that the 600T has LED fans while the 650D does not but is that the only difference?

I'd like to know the answer to that as well. I'm not a fan of LEDs and that was the biggest turn off of the 600T for me. Sure, you can replace them with regular black 120mm fans, but cmon you're paying $200 for this case I'd like it to come with awesome stock fans.

The fans in the 650D are black with no LEDs.

As for the 800D upgrades - should be on the website within a week or so.

I know they don't have any LEDs but cooling wise, are the fans in the 600T and 650D equal?

No, the 650D fans have been upgraded to 1000 RPM max fans, as opposed to the 700-800 RPM max fans that shipped with the 600T.

In a while we'll probably make the white LED versions of those fans available to people who want to upgrade their 600T cooling capabilities.

How does the 650D perform in terms of air cooling?

My guess is that the lack of a side intake fan might hurt it's ability to air cool effectively especially when the rig is running on SLI - much like the 700/800D.

Side intake fans add turbulence to the natural flow of air going front to back.
Cases like the HAF has the front fan obstructed by the hard drive cage and the side fan increases airflow into the motherboard area.
In the 650D, the hard drive cage can be rearranged to increase airflow to the video cards.

Side fans are ugly and lacks purpose but a mesh side panel will be made for people who want side fans.

Apparently the 6GB SATA backplane is shipping on new 800D's. Apparently a lucky soul just got one from Newegg

According to the rep's this should be around a $20 item but still don't see it on their boards. Sad I spent so much on a case less than 2 weeks ago and now I've got to spend another 20$ to provide simple SATA 6GB support. Corsair is slipping....
