phinix nanoTower - Smallest and most powerful mITX rig !

AGGGHHH! So Close! This seriously a fine piece of work good sir, I can't wait to see the finished product. The hex patterns and yellow acrylic are freakin' sweet.

looking awesome

Almost! not long left now surely? :)

It's so pretty :)

I do not have the patience required for this worklog.

It's.. so... pretty.

mah gawd!

Its so purrrrrrty!

Thank you guys!

Well, I received it all from powder coating and I must say it looks sooooooooo sweeeeet!:)
I made some photos but I don't have enough light to show the details of coating. This satin black is so nice and the second color - dark graphite looks amazing in contrast with black. I will try to show you guys some photos, maybe tonight.
Just one more thing to tell you, when I put together those four main columns and main top and bottom panels, the amin frame looked so amazing, it's like totally different frame I had before coating, this color makes it looks so pro, I love it!!!

Well, I did receive a package today... It is sooo good to see Mafia II in full details and high PhysX :D

OK! I promised you photos, here they are! As I said, these were taken at night time, using just few lamps that is why I couldn't show exactly the difference between those two colors - some photos show this dark graphite too bright, some too dark... But those lit up front panel photos are the best:) I love them... In real it looks even better!
I will comment them later, too tired after playing some nice games on my brand new GTX580:D

Anyway... here they are.. first batch of 79 photos of powder coated Nano Tower pieces:

Paint and color contrast between the gray and black are great. I'm looking forward to seeing the final assembly.
How many colors of plexi are you using?

Thanks guys !!!

Just one - UV solar yellow acrylic. Well, there is also tinted black for windows and small bits to glue yellow pieces together.

Small update tonight:)

Just a few photos from last weekend.

Here is a acrylic bit under power chamber top cover.

170111-03.jpg

I have this 3 LED strip as a tester, wires pushed in PSU power cable:)

170111-04.jpg

This is how it glows.. I don't know.. I just can't show you guys how nicely it looks, I tried many settings but this is the closest to real look of this light. It is very hard to make a photo of light and show its real color :wallbash:

170111-05.jpg

170111-06.jpg

Here is power chamber partially built, top cover fits perfectly.
I put a table lamp under this cover to show how it glows but it was to powerful and it looks white in that photo below:rolleyes:

170111-07.jpg

170111-08.jpg

This here is a part I mentioned before - it is a acrylic part of cover that goes on one of the sides of power chamber and covers GPU power cable hole.

170111-09.jpg

170111-10.jpg

Now, this aluminium part on top is the one I painted with matte black spray paint - I say it looks good! Three layers, it took me like an hour or sth...:eyebrow:
Look how perfectly it matches powder coated piece under it! Fantastic, I love how everything I paint turns out - it takes time for all those layers but its worth it.

Last two photos, first one is one side of power chamber, just to show how it aligns nicely with L shape support, both powder coated:D

170111-14.jpg

..and Tower itself... well.. frame and few pieces of power chamber. That is ALL I'm going to show for now. Don't want to spoil final photos:) I'll try to work on painting this week and show next update in coming weekend.
STAY TUNED!!!

I'm various shades of jealousy at this moment. Nice job :D

wow!

have you tried taking pics in the dark without camera flash? might get better pictures of the lights, i think.

Well, as I said at the beginning of the project - I wanted this build a smallest and baddest powerful machine ever built, so wanted a latest graphic card in it. I had GTX295 for a bit of a time and that was the latest and most powerful from nvidia garage. I wanted Fermi, before it came out. When it came out, GTX480 was not a perfect one, we all know it... Now when we have GTX580 I decided to go for it, NanoTower deserves it! :) So, I got it. I bought Gigabyte GTX580. After this I had to speak with Vincent from Bitspower about changing plans... few MSN conversations later - Vincent let me know that Bitspower HQ is sending me a beautiful latest GTX580 water block:D I've been tracking this package for few days now and I can say it's here, just waiting for delivery guy:) Yep, my GTX580 will be watercooled with this sweet block!
For now, just a product photo. This weekend - new update and new photos of this fantastic block:)

if you want the most bestest evar then shouldnt you have an i7-860? or for that matter maybe upgrade to an i7-2600? :D keeping up with computer tech is a bitch, as my wallet can attest.

Be patient, they just came out:)
H67 sucks, so I'll wait till they push out Q67 or P67 mITX boards.

Wow! That block looks amazing!! Any more pictures of it??

These are product photos from bitspower. Misuss jsut confirmed that she got the package, so tonight I will see this little monster at home (I'm talking about block:)).
Will make some photos and show them this weekend.

yeah man i already have plans to upgrade mine to h67 even though my 860 is already overkill. why do you say h67 sucks? the overclocking limitations? the cpus seem pretty powerful, especially when you consider the power savings.

yeah that block is SEX. i cant wait to see some pics of it installed. maybe in the case? its gotta be pretty close to done by now right? :)

OC limitations and lack of SATA3 RAID:(

Well, there is a lot of smaller work that needs to be done - soldering leds, attaching them, sleeveing cables, etc. But yes, it's about 96% done:)

Very impressive! I wish I had machining skills and access like that.

Looks like the perfect case for Deus Ex: Human Revolution :D

Thank you guys for your suggestions!
All I can say, I just ordered 40 black button head screws:)

late to the game here, and have just been browsing through the photos....
did you have to tap the holes for all those button head screws?

when you make one for me, i'd prefer the rivets for decorative pieces like that...
it'll save you some tapping :)
