As many times as we've reported on these internet gun contraptions, you'd think people would know by now that shooting real guns over the internet is illegal in many states. Kind of a sweet set-up though. ;)

Thanks to [H] reader Benjamin S. for the link.

On one hand, it's pretty damn cool.. But also pretty damn stupid.

I could definitely see some military benefits from such ideas, having such a thing available to any schmuck on the internet is a Bad Idea.

This is illegal because it's called "remote hunting". Simply connecting a gun to the web, firing it from a web browser does not make it illegal. It will not fall under "remote hunting" nor will it fall under "booby trap" laws if you're standing next to it. Furthermore, it's still legal in about half the US.

What no skynet comments yet? Guns remotely controlled via the internet... This has Skynet written all over it.

That is ridiculous... You could put out a salt lick or some other bait, sit on your lazy boy in your living room watching your webcam and wait for a big buck to appear. I might have to try this :D

Are you allowed to bait when hunting? I know that you can't do that where i am.

Wow that's cool. Added that on my must have lists for the zombie apocalypse.

Actually after reading the article. I think given that they were aiming at a power plant to i'm guess kill workers, that would be illegal anyway so i think that their plan for murder probably negates the fact that the setup is illegal. That is like pointing out that theft of a car is illegal when somebody is stealing it to load it with a bomb to blowup a parking garage at a mall.

never mind, missed that part where it said that they were pointed at a pile of food. Just seen where it said they were located on two sides of a power plant.

You still missed it as no mention was made of a power plant:

"aimed into a food plot on a Georgia Power Co. right-of-way last fall."

Don't see a problem with this on private property, however Mr. Williams made the mistake of assuming the right of way to be "private".

WAKE UP SHEEPLE THE GUBMINT WANTS TO TAKE OUR INET GUNS WHATS NEXT OBAMA KILLING BABIES IN THE STREET!?!?!

Ok I'll do it.... ZOMG SkyNet!!!

For one i think it's very intresting even though it's illegal. Put a few of these on larger automated grid building flying robots and the next thing you know they're going back in time to kill Sarah Connor ;)

Seriously though. pretty neat.

Finally, a practical use for the quadrotor.

Internet controlled flying guns. All we need now are teddy bears with lasers for eyes.

First they came for our internet guns...
Then our eye-frying green lasers...
Then they came for our souls!!!! Damn socialists!

Any southerners want to chime in as to what a "food plot" is?

I'm not a hunter or southerner, however, logic would suggest it would be a source of food either natural or placed there by the hunter that the hogs would come and eat. ;)

Actually, the ATF has commented in the past that a remotely electronic controlled firearm is considered a machinegun, because it can fire more than once with a single action of a finger from a person.

Run this setup past a federal prosecutor with a mind towards getting another notch on his bedpost, and your looking at 10 years in prison.

"food plot" isn't really southern. Maybe redneck though. Food Plot is a way to farm deer without fences, like fattening your pig for the slaughter. It's pretty pro-environment. Hunters take better care of their deer populations than the tree huggers. :D

oops, didn't mean to thubs down that.... thumbs up for the skynet devices. Makes farming more easy and automated. :p

Looks like the guy was preparing for the inevitable day when he'd have to fend off the zombies hordes from the comfort of his lazboy.

I think this is idiotic. If you are going to blow something or someone's brains out, you need to be there up close and in person to witness the carnage. The is fucked up and all wrong IMO.

A food plot is a section of ground that has vegitation which is a primary source of food for an animal. For example, a carrot patch would be a food plot for buggs bunny.

Depends on the setup. For example a single shot rifle could never be discharged more than once just because it's remote.

Thanks! Never heard the term and didn't have time to look it up.

Damn rednecks. I hunt and had never heard of that, I just call it a "food source".

Seriously how lazy can you get. I can understand if animal populations are high or your hunting for actual, but if your hunting for sport from home at your computer for no reason then something is definately wrong. Seriously.......we need to stop sometimes and really think if it is worth it.

This is hilarious! This was found pretty close to where I live. I didn't know there were such high tech rednecks around here. The story is that it was used on a hunting plantation (Senah) to combat wild pigs that were tearing up the land. http://www.senahplantation.com/
