Black Ops First Strike preview (COD haters stay out)

Looks really good. looking forward to it for sure. Dont understand all the hate for the game. When does this come out for PC?..didnt hear it mentioned just said 360 first.

I think about a month later it'll come out for the non XBox ruling class citizens.
 
Yeah, looking forward to it. The Stadium maps looks great, and reminds me of Duke Nukem for some reason.
 
I hate COD!

...I'm looking forward to more Zombieness, but 1200 points is more than a bit ridiculous.

With that said, I like the looks of Berlin Wall. A bigger type map will seem nice in this game, except the fact that I'm sure we will see people just sitting back camping with snipers, lol. The zip lines are gonna seem kinda cool, something more to keep an eye out for with enemies. All in all I'm kinda looking forward to these new maps :).

How is the multiplayer broken? If you mean in terms of hit detection and lag that is one thing, but in terms of balance the game is better than the other CODs in this regard.

Looks good to me, I dig the destructible bridge. I'll be curious to see how that works out - ie does it come back at some point or once it blows up its gone.

looks like good fun to me. the maps treyarch put out post-release for WaW were high quality and very well designed IMO. Stadium looks very fun and Berlin Wall looks good too. my guess is the zip-lines will be avoided by most players, and the occasional player that takes a gamble by using them will just be easy-pickings.

I REALLY really hope (and it's probably wishful thinking on my part) that they add more playercard layers with these map packs... hell, I'd probably buy them for that alone :D

I think David Vanderhaar has pretty much already confirmed that more layers will not be happening. In fact I specifically remember him saying on this Twitter that we'll have to learn to do more with less.
 
I wish these would have more solo player levels too. Not a huge fan of multiplayer, especially not enough to buy map packs. But I loved the campaign
 
^ i haven't even finished the campaign, but i have many hours sunk into MP. different strokes for different folks :p
 
I'll hold off till the maps drop down in price a little, $10 is my limit. I am interested to see how the maps are for variety. One of the big problems I had with BO was that all the maps felt the same to me and all seem to cater very much to a run and gun kind of play that is relatively short range, I thought MW2 had a better mix of short long and medium range maps. The gameplay of BO feels more balanced with less bullshit kills, but somehow BO was just missing something for me to keep me playing it. If it adds some more mid and long range maps (like afghan, derail, quarry) that would be nice and would probably get me back into the game.
 
Im not saying im completely against COD I just wish the Single Player was better. Im a big fan of Single player games but the COD franchise for single player isnt that great. The online on the other hand is pretty fun.

i thought COD1, COD2, COD4, and MW2 were are excellent SP campaigns. Infinity Ward's singleplayer presentation is fantastic IMO, particularly with COD4. i get very immersed in their games, convoluted plot-lines be damned :)

awww :( that sucks. I've made some pretty wild playercards, but with just a few more layers, it would open a lot of new doors.

I really hope that they stick with this system for future COD games. It's pretty cool to check out how creative people can get with it (even the x rated ones lol)
 
I love BO but I have to say that I am looking forward to new maps. I really felt that the expansion pack was totally worth it for COD4, and this comes just as I am getting itchy for a new game to play. Yep, sorry, hated BF Vietnam. Worst game ever.

There's quite a few servers up for black ops (10,000) opposed to bad company 2 (3,000) 10,000 servers hardly sounds broken to me.

Plus, if you're not playing black ops what are you playing? Its not like battlefield 2, the quake series, team fortress 2, & Enemy territory had a single player campaign. I dont recall anyone complaining.

You can add me to the list, zero hit detection issues.

Meh. Nothing really new. I went from COD4 to BO and found that the game felt the same. It was like going from Madden 09 to 10. The game was OK, but it failed really bad to bring something new to the series. I will not be picking this map pack up so they can squeeze more money from the 60 dollars that I spent for the COD4 map pack called BO.

i didn't buy either of the MW2 map packs, though i probably should have considering the amount of time i sunk into that game. this be the first COD map pack i purchase.
