hey all about to do my new build and i can't decide on a mobo errrrr. Been looking at these beauties!

ASUS P8P67 Deluxe $240

MSI P67A-GD65 LGA $180

GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD7 LGA $320

and also the Asus P8P67 WS Revolution (don't see it for sale anywhere yet)

I normally go for Asus mobo's but that MSI looks tasty:D but for $180 thats kind of looks to good to be true with all the features the board offers. Are MSI boards cheaply made? Customer Service crappy?

I'll be running a new Core i7 2600k and will be doing my first liquid cooling build so ill be doing some OC'ing .

I've never used Gigabyte or MSI boards so any insight would be great

Without much for reviews and user feedback, I would say they are all about equal right now. They are all good, so pick the one that has all the features/connections you want. I don't have much experience with MSI mobo's, but I do know that the last few generations of Gigabyte boards have been very good.

Unless you plan on going with more than 2 video cards, the UD4 or UD5 would be a much more cost effective choice.
I have the UD4 and am quite happy with it so far. Going to try and dig up another 5850 to do some crossfire.

I'm also looking at the new P67 boards. I would really like to get my hands on a WS Revolution. I want the dual Intel NICs (for Hyper-V) and twin PS/2 ports (for a KVM). The Pro looks interesting but the use of a Realtek for the 2nd gig-E port is a deal breaker. That and I'm not entirely clear on how it handles the 3rd PCI-e port. For my setup I need to have 3 PCI-e slots, preferrably with x16, x8 and x4 for the cards (but I could likve with x8, x8 and x4). Not sure from Asus' website how the 3rd port shares bandwidth/lanes (it doesn't look good).

I've had really bad luck with the PS/2 ports on MSI or Gigabyte boards with a PS/2-based KVM.

I went with the P8P67 PRO, neither the EVO or Deluxe had compelling features worth the extra money.

Asus, I had great RMA support with the customer service there a few years back.... got a new mobo and then sold it for $180 (originally paid $100, it was a rare find OCing p4 board after they quit making them) :D

If you need dual NICs, go Asus deluxe. You can also have non USB 3.0 case and the deluxe offers a front mounted 3.5 bay with 3.5 ports, that's great for me since I plan to keep my case for 4-8 years (I'll will probably pass it down later)

I really dont see an argument for getting a gigabyte board. The only one worth getting is the UD4, and the only reason to get it is because they have the mosfet drivers and (if you're into it) the old non EFI bios. MSI and Asus win out though i think.

I am curios why did people by the gigabyte boards (Ok, so the UD4 is a good one)? But did I miss something? Is there a reason for the UD5 for $259?

Looks like Newegg got some Asus Maximus IV's (out of stock atm) Board looks pretty slick with 10 usb 3's. But wow well over $300

Just noticed this board also "ECS Black Extreme P67H2-A Hydra ATX Intel Motherboard" anyone have any insight into ECS i've never heard of them.

Just ordered the MSI myself. Every review I've seen raves about it. And the price is low also. :)

Good past experiences with Gigabyte boards is why I went with it. Asus was a close second, but I'm comfortable with Gigabyte, and the specs between it and the P8P67 Pro are about equal.

The Pro only has 1 NIC, an Intel one.

Yes, thanks for the correction. It's the EVO and the Deluxe that are listed as using a Realtek. So they're out. The WS and the Maximus are listed as using dual Intel NICs. I need three ports (one for network, two for hyper-v subnets). I also need to use an x8 RAID card. So I need 3 PCIe slots. I also need real PS/2 keyboard and mouse as it'll be in a KVM. I asked Asus about the PS/2 port and they said it'll support both using a splitter.

So the Pro with it's Intel NIC and split PS/2 port would be interesting... except I'm not clear on how the 3rd PCIe slot gets "shared". I want to use the eSATA ports AND a 3rd PCIe card (at x4). It looks like that won't work. Only the Deluxe, WS and Maximus are listed as having enough support for the 3 slots. Yet, the WS apparently isn't shipping yet.

Msi usually make really good products and at $180 that board looks like a steal I would go for it.

What is it about the realtek nic's that make people stay away from them??

I find they don't work very well. Especially when using Hyper-V. The VM sessions don't get multicast traffic delivered to them at all. Granted, they're not "marketed" as anything other than desktop chips, but still...

i went with the deluxe on launch day. damn good board so far
you could always exchange it for another should you not like it

How is the overclocking on the Deluxe?? I think my choice is gonna come down to the Deluxe Maximus 4 the MSI and the Gigabyte ud7. I would probably just get the UD7 right now ,I have heard lots of good things from Gigabyte but kinda want the updated bios style. Any idea if they are gonna release an update for the bios for that board anytime soon?

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I have been thinking about getting the Deluxe also. Part of me is telling me to sell my SB & wait for LGA 2011.

Don't go with the MSI board if you plan on using two video cards. I bought the board and my second GTX 470 blocks the front panel connectors. I'm returning the board as my computer can only be turned on via the button on the motherboard itself.

which MSI did you get & return?

..and can you take a picture of what you mean. The ONLY way I turn my computer on or off is the TOP mounted button on my Antec Nine Hundred Two.

Hmmm the MSI blocks some stuff with 2 cards?? This could be bad news i got 1 6970 now might add a 2nd later down the road.

According to a couple reviews I read, the Asus UEFI implementation exceeds the quality of the other manufacturers. I'd say stick with the Asus P8P67 PRO ... it's what I have, and it rocks. You only need one NIC (most likely), and it's an Intel one.

I'm not thrilled by any of the current P67 boards - even the good ol' P67 Classified isn't that appealing (not to mention there's no word yet as to when it'll be out).

I went ahead and picked up a Giga(really)Bites UD7 board just because that was the best board I could get my hands on quickly. I'm really scared of going back to GB since my experience with their X58 boards had me swearing never to buy another one of their mobos. I hope I don't regret giving them another chance. If by chance another viable option pops up in the next week, I'd be happy to jump off that UD7 ship and go elsewhere. As of now, that's what I'll be building my SB system on.

Well i finally made up my mind after reading the review for the Asus Maximus !! Beast of a Mobo with easy oc'ing and some future proofing :D Now to just wait for Newegg to get some in stock.

I hope 350.00 is worth it... considering Intel might Axe that Socket any day now :D

My 2cents is i really like the msi board but asus makes great stuff..if its anything like the 1366 boards dont seem to matter which board they all perform about the same ..cept for extreme o/clocks but in this situation you cant lose, all the boards your looking at are fine...which one you like?

I am going to get a pro or sabertooth. My past few builds I have gone for the low enthusiast builds and have had success. If you spend 300 on an 1155 mobo you are wasting money. 8x/8x is not a big difference from 16x/16x. If I hear another person say that 2011 socket is worth waiting....!!! Go with a cheaper mobo and and spend money on something that will last. I am going to buy the asus pro and 2500k instead of the 2600k and ssd. With the money I am saving I get a mountain mod u2-ufo. Also. the 100 you spend on a better mobo can go towards the gtx 560 Ti in a couple of weeks.

All of my builds have been on GB boards, but I have seen some pretty decent reviews on the MSI boards. For $60, I would build on the MSI board as that basically pays for the ram at this point.

newegg just listed the WS Revolution. I've ordered one, along with 16gb of ripjaws RAM for it.
