Im not. There are only 100 Marines left in Iraq at this time. Im in Afghanistan, and leave for home tomorrow.

btw, happy 235th birthday USMC!

Thank you for your service. We, as America, are blessed and thankful. Congrats on heading home soon!

Heh havnt seen a Harris in an actual manpack config before.

yeah its pretty nasty, The Army uses toughbooks and those things can take a whooping thats for damn sure, I've dropped one thirty feet while doing a 1GB dvd burn and it didnt stop or fuck the disk up.

eee pc 1015pem... plays jedi knight DF II very well.. even fired up Guild Wars on it today also, which was very playable but gets a little jittery in spots.. EDIT: got Jedi Outcast and RTCW running on it also... any Quake 3 based engine or lower seems to run fine.. I am using GameBooster when I play guild wars (which does help for sure) but it's still pretty choppy in places... but that might be caused by the wifi connection... will test over copper later..

I keep thinking that that dust can't be good for that laptop.

Here was the inside until a few days ago when I cleaned it out. I blew it out with an air duster before I even opened it, but it didnt get it all apparently.

My new laptop:

Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3820T-7459 13.3"
10cu2dz.jpg

- Core i3-370M (2.4Ghz, dual core)
- 4GB DDR3
- 320GB 5400 (to be a 500GB MomentusXT later)
- Intel HD integrated (no gaming for me)
- 13.3" 1366x768 LED display
- Wireless-N (upgrading to Centrino 6200 later)
- 6 Cell battery
- Windows 7 HP x64

Just got it today, but so far it is worlds better than the my AspireOne N450 netbook. I was finding myself using the netbook as my main computer at my ski condo 2-3 days a week so it was time. So far in initial tests the battery looks like it may actually hit the 8-hr mark for just browsing. I'm sure HD video is another matter...

Nice one 4x4not. But why "Wireless-N (upgrading to Centrino 6200 later)"?
The built in Atheros Wireless-N isn't a dual-band card so it can't do 5Ghz. I have a dual band router at home and want my 300mbps. The cards are only $25 on eBay and take all of 30 seconds to install.

Thanks for the explanation. :)

16GB of RAM... very, very nice machine there, I am definitely envious.

But, if I had the money I'd still get the Dell Precision M6500 and max it out with 32GB of RAM... ;) Was goofing off earlier today and pricing one of them out totally absolutely maxed out with that RAM, a 256GB SSD, 500GB drive, etc... came to just over $15K. :D
