Fairly sure that type of Gold Box deal is account-unique and based on browsing history.

Lol @ anyone who buys this. Worst deal of the year right here!

Most of those will hit 4GHZ or above. Granted this is warmish at best but why is the sandy b. better than this?

Micro Center has better deals than this daily. Got a i7 920 for $199 not too long ago, but that deal has been around for over a year. I think the current deal is a i7 930 for $180. Could be wrong. Current deals seem to be with SB right now at MC.

Amazon ROCKS! I get a bunch of things there, like my current mobo and ram. But this deal doesn't look "hot".

Why this is not a Hot Deal. You can buy the 2500k for $240 at newegg and most (almost all) people interested in this processor would be coming from some chipset other then an existing x58, so you can't even say buy the 950 to save money on a new MB. The 2500k comfortably hands the 950 it's rear end in pretty much every catagory and does it while costing less. And as said before, faster, cooler, lower TDP, and more features.

The only person buying this would be someone who's CPU has died on them and they don't want to replace their MB.

If you actually look at new benchmarks with all the recent chips, the 2500 is slower in most things (video encoding, winrar archiving/file compression, blahblahblah) compared to this i7 950, especially if you Overclock the 950. You will obviously need more money for a decent OC board for the 2500.... so fail at trying to counter-point there.

The 2600K is little more money and its, in hand, only a little bit better in the same benchmarks.. but you only get a little more performance (barely noticeable in normal desktop app use) so is the extra money really worth it? Thats up to you to decide and compare with the charts.....

And then you could always OC the hell out of this 950 as mentioned above and make it way faster than 3Ghz...... its not that bad, but a 2500k for $180 (that is, if you can find it in stock right now, and especially for that cheap online, not in a rare 1 of 12 American MC stores 500+ mi away for most people here) is a better bang for buck for slightly cheaper if you can find one... you get what you pay for basically as this chip is in the middle (performance and money wise) between the new 2500 and 2600 from what I've looked at....

So this is not a horrible price really. If you actually research the benchmarks and performance potential of all these CPUs mentioned with real world app figures and tests.

Its a lame deal because u can find a 930 for less on eBay if u have to have a Bloomfield. Its a terrible deal because of SB. 2500k from those of us that have no use for HT, 2600k for those of us that do. Also, I've been clocking on cheap ass boards for years. SB needs even less board.

err the 930 is obviously cheaper than the faster 950 because its a slower CPU... that's an obvious one. More Mhz=More $$$. Plus ebay sucks, avoid ebay in my honest opinion, I used to love it but been burned way too many times by 100% "legit" sellers. Then ebay crams you one and doesn't abide by their own "you're safe with ebay, we'll pay you back!" bullshit lie I just went through. From my personal experience with their "protection plan" ebay pays NOTHING, even when the seller never replies again to anyone........

Yeah, if you're OCing like mad I guess they are all the same shebang :p

I guess in the end the 2500 is less power, and has a few selective goodies (gpu backup incase your primary dies, slightly colder cpu temps, etc) if you really need them though... its cheaper for practically a very similar "upgraded" version of the older intel cpu. Make sure you get the ~$20 more 2500K as the non-K 2500 chip supposedly sucks at overclocking compared to the K version of the 2500.

Well, this i5 760/p55 setup puts out a lot less heat than the i7 930/x58 it replaced. I can only imagine how much less an i5 2500K/P67 will pump out. Especially if its paired up with a 6870. Nice little LAN setup that'd be!!
