LIAN LI PC-7FNWX

Update: I received the fan holders and, unfortunately, they are about the same thickness, if not thicker, than the fan clips, so no dice on the top fan :(

Thank you for the info.
I am using a San Ace 120mm x 38mm as push so this fan holder won't fit anyway.

I did a quick measurement, it seems to me that even rotating 90 degree blowing air up won't work either. I didn't actually try it, just used a ruler.

Newegg has the 7FNW case for $99 right now during a special pre-black friday sale....

Guys I really like the look of this case, but just worried about the space. My rig:
CPU: i7 950
CPUC: Thermaltake Contac 29
Graphics Card:CF 6870 (possibly the 6970 CF)
RAM: G.SKILL 3x2GB DDR3-1600
Mobo: gigabyte x58a-ud3r
PSU:Corsair GS800 800W PSU

Do you think everything will fit comfortably in this case? Also, CrazyBee I noticed you have the 480 in this baby, is the 7FNWX able to keep her cool (without any modifications).

I've not seen my 480 go over 44C on GPU / 38C on Ram but I'm not over clocking or doing anything high end with my rig. Everything fits in nicely with my rig, only thing I was a little worried about was how long the 480 is and where exactly the graphics card was going to end up once I put it on the Mobo & in the case but it all fitted just fine with about a fat finger between the end of the 480 and the 5.25 cage.

more cheaper case has a better solution to manage card longer than a 480,
this is a real weakness of this case.

Everything fits just fine. I had an OC'ed 480 and now a 580 installed with no heat issues. This is even without a top blower fan. Hope this helps.

For those of you who are wondering if a longer video card will fit in this case, here is a pic below illustrated for you:

Maximum Video Card Size:
430mm = 16.9 inches
290mm = 11.4 inches

Hope this be of help for some of you.

Thanks everyone, think I will prolly get this case then. mTECHIE, how can it be 430mm long with those things obstructing it?

I looked into my 60FNW to double check for you guys and I don't think my videocard could clear the far end of the 5.25" bays if it was longer than 290mm. It's hard to eyeball it with all my wires in the way and my case closed though.

For a single card, you guys won't have any problems fitting the largest video card out in this case. It fits right into the 5.25 bay slot without anything in the way.

@ TechCrazy - I have my 6870 posted 1-2 pages back. Though, even if it was 4+ inch longer, it wont be a problem. w/ Corsair 1200ax PSU. (check my sig on what it fits)
But, it may be different on your motherboard. Depends where your video card sits, how low.

Recap on my case for reference. Notice how I can move the card up to the top pci express slot (this slot will alot longer cards into the 5.25 bay)? Though, I installed mined on the 2nd slot.

Buy this case, you wont regret it. I settled this case over the Corsair 600t and NZXT phantom, because of the smaller size, and better quality build, more light too!

yes yes, reall cool case, the coolest I know at the moment.
It will be a long long long wait until January, I must wait sandy bridge at least to change my hardware and case.

Is there a way to rotate the 3.5" bay?
Have you tried rotating your AX1200 in the opposite way? I mean with the psu's fan in front of the GPU? Someone says the it helps a lot lowering temp in the case.

PS: Congratulations for cable management, it looks clean.

I agree with what ins said:cool:

I've been waiting for 5 years. I told myself, I will wait no longer, and just bite and get something this will suite my needs for at least 3 + years. Though, I know the feeling. Haha.

Rotate the 3.5 bay? The hard drive tray can be installed backward if needed. (Check the above picture, the ssd tray is mounted regular, the other two hdd is mounted in backward, to hide the cables)

Rotating the the 1200ax PSU around won't be a problem. It all depends if you want hot air to be removed from the case quicker or you want cool down your PSU with bottom fresh air. Both has its benefits.

One thing that is making me slightly hesitant, is that it only has 2 fans. Where as most high-end cases have 3 fans (one even being a 200mm). How can this even compete cooling wise.

it support 3fans so adding one yes, is an additional costs but if you really like it
probably you would afford it.

No one knows if this case fit a 5870?
I don't see why it wouldn't fit: the GTX 580 that I'm using is 10.5" and there is more than a half inch in clearance left in my case for the 11.1" HD5870. However, I do not have 1st hand experience with this.

I regret buying this case. I bought it to have something quieter than my CM690 but it turned out to be just as loud.

Much of the noise comes from the rear fan that has a bad bearing. The front fan makes a lot of noise too. What disappointed me even more was when the front panel started humming from vibration.

Im going to disconnect the case fans to see how much I can reduce the noise with silent fans, but I can already tell it lets out a lot of noise from the CPU, GPU, and HDD.

I want my $150 back :(

Edit: I found out a lot of the noise is coming from my 9800GTX. I recently moved my computer to the top of my desk in the corner of my room. Being in a corner and at ear level means a most of the noise coming out the back of the computer is reflected right at me.

this is a really bad news, so where is the "quality case"? is this quality?

I take back what I said. This is a high quality case for $150. I just had buyer's remorse because I was hoping it would be silent.

The front panel does rattle sometimes during hard drive read/write but I can make it stop by adjusting the side panel or by removing the front panel and putting it back on. Then it doesn't rattle until I open the case again.

The fans make noise but they also move a lot of air.

Things I like about this case:
  • Lots of room behind motherboard tray
  • Hard drive cables aren't squished by side panel
  • Wire management accessories
  • Tool-less PSU mounting
  • Very light (10lbs lighter than Cooler Master 690)
  • Well designed HDD mounting system
  • Flawless workmanship

The problem you got with the front panel isn't so good for a quality case like that.
Also the fan noise could be better, anyway I will change the built in fan with fan from noctua.

I ended up going with the PC 60-fnwx, although I had looked at this case as well. They seem to be extremely similar in layout. I just realized how old the rig in my signature was :O. That thing still runs though.

Too many cases come with the brand's "cheap" fans which can get really annoying. Always gotta be prepared to drop at least $50 more for new fans =(

Looks like newegg lowered the price for this case to a more reasonable 150.00 USD. I'm glad I waited.

I located the source of the front panel rattle. The 5.25" bay covers touch the front panel lightly enough that they can hum with HDD vibration.

Suggested solution: Put electrical tape on the edges of the bay covers in a way that it fills the gap between bay cover and front panel but is not visible.

ok, the three lian li PC-7FNWX arrived here at home.
wonderful, what a quality case.

I haven't understood where to fit the beeper, is there a place where to fit it or should
I see it floating over the motherboard?

I can't light up the case now because I'm waiting sandy bridge but whre is the HDD Led and the Power on Led on this case?

I see you finally got your cases - three PC-7FNWXs? Wow, I wonder where did you get your cases from?

Oh, by the way, the HDD and Power LEDs are on the Power and Reset buttons themselves - when you turn on your build, you will see the Power button lit up as well as the Reset button (which act as a HDD LED).
