Long story short......got pushed in the pool while in Jamaica and of course I had the IPhone on me at the time.

Has anyone had any luck getting their IPhone repaired and if so from whom? There are so many listed now that claim they can get the phone working but if one has a better percentage than another I'd like to give them a try. I'm in no big hurry and I'm already setup on a new phone but if I can get it repaired I'd like to give it to my sister.

thanks for any input.

man... thats a tough one.

I have my doubts about getting it to work right again. it can be something simple, like replacing the screen or battery... but odds are a bunch of things were damaged when you fell (were pushed) into the pool.

My best advice would be to sell it to someone/a shop for parts and have her either buy a new one (under contract) or see if she can get one cheap online. It'll probably be cheaper for you and her (not to mention, more reliable) in the long run.

Unfortunately I think it may be too late.

Afaict when electronics ends up in the pool you need to get any batteries out (tricky on an iphone) and wash it in clean water ASAP. Then fully dismantle it and dry it out.

See if you can get the back off.. if you can pull the battery & then wash the phone in distilled water (this is jsut to get the chlorine & other contiminants off) then let it airdry for a few hours, Then wrap it in a paper towel & put it in tupperware filled with dry rice (the rice helps suck up any moisture) and let it sit for a few days.. This process is what I have done & I have brought back 4 different cell phones from liquid damage. (as well as a Wiimote that my daughter thought would flush)

Thanks for the input guys. I too think that you guys are right and it's toast though. It's actually been a few months since this happened, just now getting around to looking into it. Since I was out of the country when it happened I had very few options, best I could do was just let it sit there. Once I got home I did the bag of rice for a few days and even the oven trick with less than stellar results.

I might give U Break I Fix a try. At least they say if they can't fix it they will refund your money.

Thanks again guys.

If it's been months, the chlorine and water combo have most likely corroded the board so bad it's done. Add to the fact that the most important thing to do is immediately take the battery out so the board doesn't short, and you have a non-removable battery, so... Yeah, not good.

That happen to my 3GS when it got wet on a water ride in Williamsburg VA. I had to shake all the water out from the bottom and power it off. Once I got home I put it on a tupperware with rice and those dry silica for 3 days and it work

Quick question about water damage. If an Iphone (or any other phone for that matter) is dropped in water, but works fine after wards, could the inside corrode out weeks later and kill the phone? And could that also cause the battery to explode? I was under the impression that once you got a phone working after being in water, it would be good to go.
