Changing scaling through DDC/CI

Since it appears nvidia dropped their scaling support for good, i was wondering if there was a way to access the monitor's own scaling capability by means of an external software through DDC/CI functionality. I have a Dell U2311H, and every time i want to scale to a 4:3 mode i have to manually navigate through the monitor menu, which is cumbersome. If i could built a setup where i can change the scaling setting by using a simple shortcut key, it would be great.

What??? nVidia dropped their scaling support? When did this happen? I use 1:1 pixel scaling all the time with my nVidia GTX 260. If this has been dropped from the newer 4xx/5xx series cards, I will never be buying another nVidia product ever again.

Wow, is this true for all 4xx and 5xx cards? So there is no "Do not scale" feature in the Detonator drivers? Anyone know why on earth nVidia would remove this? And please tell me the new AMD 6900 cards support scaling! :confused:
 
Scaling has been so borked as to become device dependent now. There's a lot of displays that are incompatible since at least the 180.xx series. I've had 2 cards since scaling seemed to disappear and two new panels. The w2408H doesn't work well with adapter scaling for either a 9800GTX+ or GTX460. However a ZR24W works perfectly fine since the 260 series drivers.
 
That's truly messed up. I upgraded from a 7900gt and scaling worked fine on that card with this very monitor.

When you say the scaling option isn't there do you mean it's completely MISSING from the nVidia Control Panel? Or does the "Do not scale" feature appear in the menu but just not work? I know with some nVidia cards (like my GTX 260), "Do not scale" doesn't do anything on some monitors, due to an EDID problem. In this scenario, you can fix the problem with a simple registry modification.
