This should more appropriately be titled:

Buyer beware...

I recently purchased 2 games from gameloft at $4.99 each. Since I don't have a credit card myself, I gave a friend cash to put it on her card. A problem arose today when she noticed she was $105 short this morning. She was apparently charged 5 times for each game, which over drew her and she got a $35 overdraft charge on top. The bank told her to contact gameloft, however, they are not responding to multiple email attempts. Im so pissed off right now I dont even want to play the games I paid $50 for.

Research shows other people reporting this as well:

Has any one here had a similar experience?

Did you call them? E-mailing is not the best way to get stuff like that done. Here is a contact # listed on their web-site:

1-800-910-3186

This is a well known company, I am sure they will take care of this so while I understand you are pissed off as I would as well, there is no reason to go that crazy with such a title for your thread really.

Yeah, I was caught up in thye frustration...i probably over reacted this soon in to it.

Im calling them now. (Thanks Valaire)

Well, i did get ahold of someone at the number provided and they said they would refund the over charges at least. That doesn't really help with the over draft charges but I will wait to see how they handle it in the end, I try to be a fair person and give people the benefit of the doubt, so we shall see.

They've been reimbursing people for the over charges. Gameloft is a good company, you just have to call them when you have problems.

Make them pay for the overdraft as well. It's irrelevant that it was your friend's account, the only thing that matters is that their screw-up caused an additional overdraft fee that they need to pay. Start nice, but also be assertive and if they don't know what to do, kindly ask to speak to someone who does.

wait, what? you mean you're not supposed to create forum threads telling everyone not to buy from gameloft because they accidently over charged you? get outta here with that common sense

Agreed...so how does one go about deleting a hastily posted thread anyways??

Hey don't be too mad, just poking fun a little.... and btw once it's on the Internet, it stays there until the end of the Internet's time.......

Bank overdraft fee's aren't there problem. Yeah, they charged you too many times on accident...but they didn't charge you the overdraft fee. Yell at your bank to get it reversed.

Overdraft protection...I love how they have the nerve to call it protection when its the biggest rip off ever...i hate banks :(

Umm, no. The OP said:

She got charged 10 times for two games, so that's eight unauthorized charges that stuck. In a situation like this a bank should already take it upon themselves to contact the merchant about what's occurred.

For the bank to not take that part upon themselves already is what they should be yelling about.

Even if you buy something and return it, and even if the merchant agrees to take it back and refund your money, if you aren't sure about the refund process, you can contact your bank and request the chargeback process already begin just in case, regardless of the merchant not even doing anything wrong, at least yet.

Merchant don't have to do anything wrong for your bank to get involved. For her bank to not want to get involved after eight unauthorized transactions is what's wrong. If they won't investigate and figure eight charges weren't authorized, how are they to know to refund the fees?

But the merchant here did something very wrong, and both the bank and the merchant should have been involved immediately.

Gameloft is a very reputable company and they experienced a glitch that affected a small amount of their transactions I believe it was .05% of them, they issued an apology on December 14 and offered everyone affected a free game. If you still need support email them at [email protected]
