gog.com Xmas Sale 30-50% off

Finished Duke Nukem at 1280x960, lol. No res would look good, so cartoon-like compared to modern games... but fun. Bad sound as well, just didn't wear my headphones. Eager for the Gearbox release.

"Kick ass and chew bubblegum" :D

"Aw, I'm all out of gu......." MONEY ):

I like this site, they report no DRM in their games.... major +. Site is very well made, looks legit to me

Gotta love some GoG sales.

If you're an RPG fan and you still don't own Planescape: Torment, the Baldur's Gates games, or the Icewind Dales, it's time to get them. And NWN Diamond, too. It'd be nice if they gave us an extra 10 or 20% off for buying the entire Black Isle/Bioware catalog, but $42 for those 6 games is still a great deal.

dang, was hoping to see the Fallout games and/or Interstate 76' on sale.

Has GoG improved since a year ago? I have nothing but bad experience with them. None of the games I bought from them were working properly, and their customer service was non existent. I'd love to pick up a game or two, but I don't want to be throwing my money away.

I picked up a few games. I love gog, great site.

Umm, eDuke32 dude.

good lord...

I'm going to have to splurge on all the good old games I wanted...

but yes, I am worried about Win 7 support... hmm

Overall GoG is great for older games. That is all they sell really with the exception of the presale of Witcher 2 for which they are also the developer. Their games do not have any DRM. Graphics on a lot are old and will not be as fondly remembered as if they were running on the systems they were released for. Their forums are good though for workarounds for getting better graphics on some and for issues that people may have running specific games on their systems.

I have a few titles from them and one of them required an online key which you need to request from them separately if you plan on using online. They supplied my a key promptly.

Ha, I remember Rise of the Triad. Never turn your back on those guys who get down and beg for mercy!

That eDuke32 screenshot looks sweet too.

If anyone's into fantasy strategy games, these guys have some of the best: Age of Wonders- Shadow Magic, Heroes of Might and Magic 2/3, Master of Magic, and Disciples 2.

Also, for those looking for a more "intense" crpg experience, give Temple of Elemental Evil and the Realms of Arkania series a look. There's a pretty serious focus on stats and game mechanics, so these won't be for everyone, though. Also, it looks like it's not technically on sale, but Freespace 2 is a great space flight sim game.

I don't know about you guys but I had bad luck with Windows 7 support on GOG. Incoming doesn't work right, just got Moto Racer, and Moto Racer 2, and they don't work right and crash my aero. Maybe its my luck, but disapointed overall. I like the concept of good old games, but half my games, especially old 3D ones, don't seem to work, or graphical problems or crash my desktop. And this isn't an isolated incident either, I went on their forums, and many people have the same problem. At least in the games I choose. Seems 2D games don't have as many issues though.

I was thinking about picking up Moto Racer - that was a great game! Have you tried disabling Aero before running it?

It disables it automatically for you, but never reverts it back. It disables because if you recall, Moto needs 16bit Windows. I love the game, I own 2 retail copies to this day. I love that soundtrack, one is still in my cd player. But when I play the game, there is crazy stutter and frames are inconsistent. I beat Moto completely, including the extra tracks back in the day. But so far its unplayable. I love the game, and going to try troubleshooting it, but disappointed, because I still own my copies, and was hoping buying them at GOG would save me the trouble of troubleshooting in the first place.

Odd, I've never had a GoG release not work exactly as advertised, and I'm running Win 7 64bit. Couple of people here don't seem so lucky.

Also, I know it's not everybody's thing, but if you like adventure games, you can't beat $6 for The Longest Journey if you haven't played it already. Or, even if you have and don't want to dig the discs out again. http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_longest_journey Sanitarium is great too. http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sanitarium Two Worlds is fun if you're looking for a more modern RPG for $5, too. http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/two_worlds Lots of stuff worth getting here.

TLJ and Dreamfall are two of my favorite graphic adventures. I wish they'd stop dicking around with that stupid fucking Conan MMO and finish Dreamfall already.

Neverwinter Nights is excellent. If you want or manage to finish all the included content in the Diamond pack they're offering, there's tons of user made modules (some of which are very high quality in the Hall of Fame) over at http://nwvault.ign.com/ . Still a good multiplayer community on some servers too.

I would second this. Great games.

I just bought Torment from GoG a month ago and it comes with a whole lot of extra art and music files. Completely unnecessary but just the thing to spruce up a Steam or Facebook account. :)

These games are classics. Buy them now and set aside a week or two just for them. :p

Just bought Septerra Core and Gorky 17/Odium for 3 bucks a pop.... Funny too, I actually own both games on CD.... CD's are so scratched they won't install though, AND the gog versions will actually run on modern OS'. Glad I'll finally be able to catch up on both of these gems. I've been meaning to play both for nearly a decade.

Woah I remember outcast, that game was great.

One of the best games of that decade and definitely on my top 10 for most immersing and one of the best game soundtracks ever. I think I still have the disks around somewhere, but may pick up here for convenience. Interested knowing how/if it runs in Win7. If I remember, didn't it have some sort of weird graphics engine that was software generated?

Also picking up the Gabriel Knight series. Awesome games those. Wish they'd come out with a reboot for some of these.

Damnit, I just put up for Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, NWN Diamond, IWD 1 and 2, Planescape: Torment, and Temple of Elemental Evil...shakes fist at OP, there goes my life :p :D

I might grab Baldur's Gate II / BG 1 packs on the sale.

It gets old installing BGII from all 4 CDs (one of which was scratch-repaired back in the day and is a little finicky), installing the patches, and then the various fixpacks. It would be nice to chop a few steps off of that.

I'm tempted to get HOMM3 also, I have the disk of HOMM3 complete, but the no-CD patch is like for Win98/XP and I remember it being finicky to get working under win7.

Pulled the trigger on PlaneScape. Was intending to get to that one some day.

The funny thing is that I had Planescape just dormant, heard it would be on GOG, and sold it for a decent appreciation/collectible price. And now I might buy it from GOG since I don't have it (well, and it would be good with Win7).

Thanks for reporting back. I forgot about Aero being disabled automatically. GoG has a community; perhaps you could check and see if other people are experiencing the same issue. Could just be a matter of adjusting a setting or using a different driver - who knows.

I am totally with you as far as repurchasing, though. I have a retail copy of System Shock 2 but if it ever appeared on GoG or Steam I would buy it in a heartbeat just to avoid the hassles of running it on a modern system. Same for Thief 1 and 2.

To those who picked up Torment and/or Baldur's Gate 2, and are running Win7-64bit. Have you encounter any problems? Any random resets or freezes?

Wow NWN modding community is overwhelming there is a lot of content and I am at a lost of where to begin x_x
