Offical Call of Duty Black Ops Thread

Fraps is reporting 91 FPS for me on my rig in BO, but I have a lot of settings turned down now. I used to get 60 FPS until I turned down the settings. Now the game runs great for me.

One problem I am still having is that my favorite servers never come up any longer. In fact none of my favorites show any longer. Anyone have a solution to this?
 
Why did they take out nuke on this game? I didnt even know until I kept getting multiple 25+ kill streaks and then went to go look at killstreak and no nuke of any kind? I loved to nuke in MW2 made me feel like a BAMF specifically when my team is losing.

Probably because it was near an insta - win once you got one.

But then again, once you got a nuke you deserved to win the game lol.

Exploiters and cheaters were able to rack up 25 kills extremely quickly and end the game.

You could in Modern Warfare 2. The problem was staying alive long enough to get a target lock and put them down.
 
Yes, gunships can be shot down. It takes two shots with lock-on though. The first shot, the gunship will drop flares.
 
Only reason I like not having the nuke is cuz i have never been able to get 1. lol so it is to my benefit.
 
I gotta say, having played through the entire game I enjoyed it. I wanted to hate this game so badly, but it was fun as a shooter.
 
so its an anti hacker preventative? Well that sucks, no reward for absolutely crushing the other team, I looked and the highest kill streak is awarded at 11? 11 is ridiculously easy to get in black ops compared to MW2. I havent yet gotten to know any of the maps and I am just wrecking, better weapons at start help a ton.
 
If you're absolutely crushing the other team, then you shouldn't be playing against them in the first place. Find better players.

Unless you enjoy stomping pubbies all day for some reason.
 
Wish they would release another patch soon. The lastest one screwed up my crosshairs in Vision 3D!!!!
 
would this game support AO, do we have to wait for profile in NV drivers? and if yes how long?
 
they really should give you better rewards after you Prestige...what's the point of it except to show other players your shiny new 'Prestige' icon?...special weapons, new perks, new killstreak rewards etc would be so much better

Where am I going to find them? I am a completely casual player, only maybe 1 hr total time in match a week on avg. I dont really know where to find better players. I am not into joining a clan either, too much drama and too much pressure.

I felt that way one time until I joined a clan. Not all are what you think...check out clanTRA (TheRogueArmy). They are a 21+ clan and there is no drama or tension...they only strive to make their servers more popular and populated. They also have great fun in their TeamSpeak.

I don't think it's that hard to get killstreaks in BO, but since they don't stack anymore per se, how is it any easier? You must just be playing better (against people that are not or are playing worse).
 
He's joking, because that is certainly a COD-type weapon. I thought the same thing when I read that article :D
 
is shooting from the hip better then ADS?...I noticed while using ADS that people are able to react and kill a split second faster with hip shooting...isn't it supposed to work the other way?...hip shooters also seem to be able to spray bullets yet still have good aim
 
For me ADS is better...probably depends on the wpn too.

I love camping on Black Ops, it's my favourite game for it. I would upload a vid to youtube but i cant figure out how :/
 
Was very cautious to buy this game for PC but I finally caved in and purchased it.. to my surprise it's running smooth as butter on my rig. I guess they might of patched something or I'm extremely lucky? I'm running everything on full settings with no FPS drops or stuttering.


My specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2Ghz. 4GB of Corsair XMS3 (2 x 2GB) SDRAM DDR3 1600. Sapphire ATI Raedon HD 5770 1GB.
 
After the most recent patch and installing the latest CAP profiles from AMD the game's now running better than ever.

Originally I was discouraged about camping in Black Ops since they nerfed claymores, but I've found the motion sensors to be pretty useful instead. I set one up in an upstairs room with only one point of access, so I can shoot out the windows and the motion sensor alerts me (as long as I keep eyes on the mini-map) when people are approaching. Then I sprint down into the stairwell and knife 'em! Gotten some awesome killstreaks that way.

I believe that's actually working as intended to prevent team stacking.

In MW2 I saw firsthand hundreds of matches completely ruined because a group/clan/friends join as a team and stack one side of a pub and the unbalanced teams just made everyone on the weaker team rage quit. It ruins the game for 1/2 the players on the server (those that did not join as a group).

If anything they should include better support for group vs group matches, so that people who want to play together will play another set of people who want to play together. That way you can play with your friends, but against other groups only and not pub players. There probably already is a way to setup these sorts of matches already.

Most FPS games will allow 1 or 2 people to switch teams, anymore than that the game will throw a 'team unbalanced' sort of message and not allow the switch. For example in CS:S the default value is +2 the other team. There is a BIG difference between 1 friends switching to the other team to play with a friend of his, (which is no big deal really) - and 8 people forming a group to join a server and pub stomp ruining the game for others.

Don't get me wrong of course I support there should be an option for friends to play together, but as long as it does not support/promote pub stomping as it did in MW2.
