I'm hoping someone can help me here. I have a shuttle sg31g2, currently the only video card i can run in this lan box is an evga 9600gt. I have currently upgraded my main pc so i have 2 extra 5770's just sitting around. Unfortunately the powersupply in this shuttle is only 300w. I currently have a core2 duo e8400 (@3.0 stock) and 4gb of corsair dominator ram (ddr2 underclocked to 800 instead of 1066). I would like to put this 5770 in this case as would be a nice upgrade for my aging lanbox. I am fortunate enough to be the network admin for a company that makes hoists and huge rolloff dumpsters. Since they do a lot of metal work here i have access to a plasma torch to cut the side of the case to make room for the new video card but i do not know what to do about the powersupply problem. Has anyone seen or have any ideas on how to put a bigger psu in this case (besides on top.......)

any ideas would be a great help.

assuming you are not using a quadcore cpu like a q6600 with like 95 watt power draw, and you have a 45-60 watt cpu, you should be well with in the powersupply requirements to get the video card in there. As for making it fit, I have stuck a 5770 in the AMD version with the nvidia 8200 chipset, by leaving the cover off, trimming the pci slot adapter to be single slot... by taking the one off the card, and a blank slot cover, tracing it out and using tin snips.

I http://www.newegg.com/Product/Image...Celeron 400 serial support Intel G31 Barebone

You will also need to take a chunk out of the side of the case to accommodate the secondary dvi connector on the card... say like 2 in from the shuttle itself.

According to the Extreme PSU calculator you only need 197W to run this combo. I did have to guess as to your other components, but I think with 300W you will be fine. Making it fit, well I got nothing for ya-sorry.

thankyou for the replies.
unfortunately the pc63 powersupply is not compatible with my shuttle series, now with that said im sure i can make it fit and work just have a hard time dishing out 120 for a 500w ps. I think im just going to fab a box stand kinda like the front load washers have but use it to house the corsair 650 i have from my old rig. I already have marked the case and cover and pulled everything out to make the cuts in the case so i can fit my double slot 5770. and was thinking since i have to pull the old psu out might as well use that area for a res for water cooling...and put the pump and rad in the box stand thing with the psu. I'll make sure i take good pics incase anyone was wanting to see the build process. I just hope i can make it look decent. i hate half assed looking mods...
