Your Personal Top 5 Ranking of Best MMOs You've Played

Ultima Online (non-tram/felucia split )
EQ1
Asherons Call
SWG pre cu
Anarchy online.

Asherons Call
Anarchy Online

Haven't played any since AO.

I have a tie
DAOC and Battleground Europe

Both offered PvP without the children. Its a shame but no MMO has been able to recreate what DAOC had which is quite amazing, I thought it was a pretty awesome game.

Played Star Wars Galaxies and quit within the first three weeks of my free trial month. It is still the only game that felt more like going to work than actually playing for fun.

Then I gave WoW a chance and got totally hooked. Played that from open beta right up until November of last year when the raiding Guild I was in finally fell apart. The first year of WoW was absolutely legendary, though... clearing MC and Blackwing Lair, and the second year too, right up to the release of the first expansion. It's so different now that I am glad I got a chance to be a part of that particular gaming experience.

I've only played 4... so...

Of the 4, here is the ranking:

1. Guild Wars
2. Silkroad Online
3. WOW
4. Age of Conan

1. Kingdom of Loathing
2. Guild Wars
3. World of Warcraft (quit pre-BC)
4. Age of Conan

And that's all I've played.

1. Planeside before expansions
2. Warcraft before I was introduced to raiding
3. Tabula Rasa in the beginning

1. FFXI
2. DoD
3. FFXIV
4.EQ1
5.WoW

ffxi is by far my favorite mmo of all times has alot to offer me in terms of story and questing

Anarchy Online x10
WoW

These are the only two I've actually been able to play for more than a few months.
But Anarchy Online is just pure win hopefully the new engine will bring many players back!

Wut?

My list:

1. Planetside
2. Anarchy Online
3. DAOC
4. EQ2
5. Lotro

EQ 1 pre gates of discord and pre velious for the true players :p

the rest are just kiddy casual games :p

What was wrong with velious? I found that expansion to be pretty damn fun raiding the giants zone and killing the Avatar of War was just fucking awesome.

If anything the game went downhill right after WoW came out.

1. WoW
2. Vanguard
3. Age of Conan
4. Warhammer
... and the others I have played dont deserve to even be mention as 5 (FFXIV, Aion, and a few others)

1) Age of Conan
2) World of Warcraft
3) Lord of the Rings Online

I've tried a myriad of other MMOs, but these are the only ones that have made any kind of impression on me.

1) Everquest (and yes I enjoyed PoP)
2) Shadowbane
3) Ultima Online
4) Eve Online
5) Everquest 2

1. EQ 1 - so much magic for a single game to hold and for so long..
2. EQ 1 (kunark) - held the magic and held the competition between guilds
3. EQ 1 (velious) - best raiding atmosphere ever, in any game for that matter
4. Anarchy Online - Held alot of that "magic" and it was fun with any class
5. WoW (pre BC) - good social aspect, fun in a lot of areas, a little cooky cutter for me.

I will be going back to AO once the new engine drops, I have a few 210 characters but Im going to twink an advent. purely for the traveling benefits and exploration.

EQ had everything you wanted in a game, if SOE could get their heads out of their asses and unpdated the interface they would of ruined WoW. Hell all they had to do was listen a little to their player base and they'd be over 5 mil subscribers still...

So many memories with early MMO's, so much fun beta testing and at the same time so many hatred memories. The early days of MMO's had so much fun to it, but now it seems every game I move to seems exactly the same. Too many companies competing with WoW.

1. Ultima Online (Pre Trammel)
2. Asheron's Call 1 (Darktide Server!!)
3. DAoC
4. Shadowbane
5. Air Warrior II (my very first MMO experience, great WWII sim)

These are the only MMO's I've played, and I really I can't play anymore due to my job taking up most of my time. Been wanting to give EVE a try for years now, but due to long absences I just wouldn't be able to stay competitive.

1) Ultima Online
2) WoW (Pre-BC)
3) Everquest 2
4) Auto Assault
5) WoW (Post-BC)

everquest
wow
planetside was fun for a while

cant think of any others i've played that would be good enough to be in a top 5 list :p

WOW
UO

Haven't played any other besides for a few days of FFXI and EVE. WOW cannot be matched in the accessibility and fun factor. UO was fun too though, although I never put in the time to GM any skill.

1. UO (my first MMO, and will always be my favorite)
2. WoW
3. Age of Conan
4. LOTRO
5. EVE Online

1. PlanetSide (still one of a kind unfortunately)
2. Guild Wars
3. EQ2
4. ....
5. ....

I have played other MMOs, but none of them would make me want to put them on a top 5 list.

1. SWG Pre CU
2. WoW

AoC would be number three if it had been able to keep my attention past level 30. Great concept but poorly executed imo. I did like the "adultness" of the game for sure and wish more games would do that.

I've played a few other mmos but they never interested me for more than a couple weeks.

1 - Asheron's Call -- So many things done right, it just grew old after a couple of years.
2 - Dark Age of Camelot -- Almost perfect, but I was really unhappy with ToA and some of the balancing issues on the two or three servers I played on, so I left.
3 - Star Wars Galaxies, Pre-CU -- SO much potential to be great, but lack of content and structure killed this for me. The CU was the last nail in the coffin.
4 - Warhammer -- I think Mythic really had a great concept here, but the implementation and graphic style really turned me off. I thought I could ignore my dislikes for a while (and playing with my friends did tide me for a while), but in the end I had to give it up after the free month.
5 - Age of Conan -- I played this for a couple of months after release, but I really couldn't find anything to do.

LoTRO was another great experience for a couple of months, but the lack of PvP focus got to me. I knew going in that it didn't have real PvP, and I thought I could be happy with just PvE. I was wrong.

I have to say, I've played or tested WoW and Vanguard, too, and all of these games miss on a couple of levels. If someone could combine the things I like and add some things in, I feel I'd lose a serious portion of my life.

Don't have 5, but I do have 4.

1 - Asheron's Call 2 - had the most unique spin on class archetypes of any MMO, IMO.
2 - WoW - quit playing around 2005, but when I did play, I had a blast.
3 - LotrO - currently playing this
4 - Shadowbane - awesome PVP, but server lag was terrible at times from the maaaaaaaaaassive skirmishes.

Since I've only played three (not counting trials), this is my order:

1) Everquest 1
2) FFXI
3) Star Wars Galaxies

Played nearly every commercial MMO and tons of free ones and the only 2 that draw me back are WoW and LoTRO. I played EQ for years and get nostalgic at times but would never play it again.

1.everquest- early everquest before it got all soft
2. ascheron's call
3. lord of the rings online
4 ultima online
5. dark age of camelot

I haven't played many MMO, but so far

1. Ultima Online
2. Lord of the Rings Online

1. Everquest
2. Ultima Online
3. Vanguard*
4. Everquest 2
5. DAoC-FFXI-WoW (Not bad games, just not my favorites)

*Vanguard became really compelling after they fixed it after release, and I got hardware that would run it. After SoE came in and fixed it, they essentially put it on life support and the game never took off.

First, my list.

1. Anarchy Online (Before Shadowlands. Tower battles at notum wars launch were the shit)
2. Wow
3. Planetside
4. Guild Wars
5. Lineage 2

now to answer your question. For like 3 years they've been working on porting AO over to the Age of Conan engine.

they say it will go live Q1 2011
