Although this was a non-scientific poll, I can believe that 5 out of 6 techies have sent e-mail from the bathroom.

Today I held an informal poll. It was conducted by a show of hands among six tech types. And it involved a very intimate topic: whether they felt it OK to use a mobile phone on the toilet. The shocking results? Five out of six people use their phone on the toilet to check email and consider it a practical use of time.

Apparently there's nothing better than opening your inbox while dropping your kids off at the pool.

Unless you accidentally get some chili post-wipe on your trackpad.

It's a subliminal way to let people know what you really think of them ....plop.......wipe........send!

Guilty, but I've tried to be better about waiting until I get out of the bathroom before sending/replying. I just realized something didn't feel quite...right...about it.

Sometimes you have to do business wherever you are.. even if that includes the bathroom.

Now if only the bathroom down the hall from my office had better 3g coverage.

If only I could fit my gaming setup in the bathroom. Also I refuse to do that. I will read or play my handheld but texting and emailing is too much for me.

So far nobody replied to this topic from their bathroom?

[H]'ers, I'm let down...

Why is the poll result surprising? It's not like the recipient will know what you're doing (unless you're one of those people who do their business while talking on the phone). To me it's the equivalent of reading a magazine or the newspaper while I'm on The John.

Of course, the article isn't really about emailing from the toilet (which I don't do anyway since it's not that urgent that I can't wait a few minutes); but rather email addition that can result in people doing so.

I know a few people who talk on the phone when in the bathroom... so emails to me seems kind
