The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Theatrical Editions + Digital Copy) Blu-ray Disc
Sale
Check back Fri 11.26 - Sat 11.27 for store or online availability
$7.99

Now that has to be wrong, $7.99 for the the trilogy? Its probably $7.99 each movie don't you think.

If its $7.99 for the box set, that may just get my ass up and to Target with a belly still full of slowly digesting turkey dinner and a bottle of Rolaids in hand...

The 40" LCD TV (1080p) for $298 is getting all the buzz.

Holy crap!!!
I am very tempted to pick this up. I heard LCD prices were dropping, but I don't know if they are going to be this low again any time soon?

I went to one of the Target stores here in Milwaukee and they said they knew nothing about the 40" hdtv. BS! they not selling them at that store yet is all, which is fine.

the WD external is a GREAT buy. im assuming its an EARS, though it may be the 32mb cache model, whatever that is. way better deal than the $70 seagate drive.

I would definitely try to go get the 2TB Western Digital drive but I have to work at Midnight on thanksgiving for the sales...

Im wondering if i stop by and grab the 2TB external drive today, and return it to price match it on BF?

because if so im definitely going to do that.

It is apparently a misprint, but according to this thread over a Slickdeals it may be possible to get it for that price with some argument. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

If the $7.99/ea price point is appealing, Amazon has all 3 movies on Blu-Ray for $7.99 each right now. Beats waiting in line at Target on Friday :)

sigh.. still waiting for external usb 3.0 drives to come on sale... I cant stand 2.0 for how often i swap garbage between computers.

Even if the whole trilogy was 7.99$ It isnt worth it on BluRay cause the BluRays are trash upscaled DVDs.. Zero 1080p quality.

There's a long thread on slickdeals going on about this. Seems like you can buy it now and then price match it on Friday-Sunday. Check it out

If anyone is interested, I went to a Target on the west side of Madison Wisconsin and just asked for the TV but its item number (DPCI: 008-09-0740) and the sales guy had to go to the back and get it for me as it wasn't out on the floor. I asked him about the whole price adjustment thing and he said he thinks itll work. He talked to 2 other people (im not sure if they were managers or just coworkers) and one said it'll work, one said it wouldn't.

Worst case scenario, he said I can return it if the price adjust doesn't work. But between three stores in the area, I think one of them will do it.

YMMV of course.

To be honest the HD deal is the only deal that looks good to me, the rest of this black friday kind of sucks to be honest. I have a feeling newegg still hasnt unleashed everything else because if i remember correctly last year they released a ad on Friday with even more deals.

Im going to go for the HD right now actually. Gonna buy it, not open it, and go back on friday, if they dont price adjust it for me ill just ask for a refund, and than rebuy it right away :p

cant be that bad can it?

so can any1 confirm that buying it now and bring back on Friday will get the price adjust?

Alot of people are doing it, so if it doesn't work... Lots of open boxes from Target!

If you open the box, they might not take it back.

Buying and item before black friday then price matching never worked for me, but YMMV.

beware from what I know a lot of the stores dont match prices for black friday. I know for sure frys doesn't.

unless something has changed Target does not price match. using the number on the website, I called them up last year and they told me that they will not even price match their own website prices in the store.

No thanks.
Is there a way I can buy this online?
I'm not going to a physical store on Black Friday to be trumped by a stampede of mongoloids.

Like many other retailers, Target stores and Target.com are separate business entities. While I personally think it's stupid, this is why they do not match their website's prices.

As far as getting price adjustments from BF deals at Target, it is completely going to depend on your local store's management. Technically, Target offers a 14 day price adjustment policy for all items. In other words, if you buy an item and it goes on sale within 14 days, you can bring the receipt in for a price adjustment. There is also technically no exception to this rule (*AFIAK*) for Black Friday. I know for a fact my neighbor buys all of her stuff about a week in advance, and she gets a price adjustment every single year at our local Target. If it absolutely came down to it, you could always just make them return the item and buy it right back.

*I worked there all through college, so I say this based on my time there*

lol Yes, the stampede is inevitable. Walmart's most likely by far the most violent & chaotic,.. not sure how Target's will be.

I'll wake up Fri, sometime whenever food stops digesting, dig out some Xmas lites, walk my doggie, do some hardcore relaxing. Drive by the stores later in the day & see if anything good still remains ;)

TBH, never thought I'd buy anything computer-related (maybe DVD-sleeves) at Target's, let alone a HD ... but 2TB for $70 ? why not

Wouldn't mind the 2TB but I'm not waiting in line for that stuff that early.

Yep, pre-bought a couple of those earlier in the week (they weren't on display, but if you had the DCPI # you could ask for it and they would sometimes pull one out of the stock room if they weren't aware it was a BF only item). Now just need to see if I'll be able to price adjust them at a different Target from where I bought them. Different Target in a different state...Otherwise I'll have to go back saturday to get the adjustment at the store I bought them from.

anyone know if I can open this up and use the drive inside on my desktop?

I think I can use my employee and red card discount on this. I'll get another 15% off that 2TB drive.

Yup, unless an online store comes out with a drive for $60 that's what I plan to do. I'd be surprised if it isn't a green model. It'll be interesting to see if there's an EARS or the older EADS inside (though it doesn't matter for just storing video).

It doesn't help they have a price matching thing in effect at Wal Mart either...

hopefully my local target has plenty of those 2tb's in stock...otherwise i'll go bonkers lol :)

Target employee here.

No store should price match other days. Ever. As far as returns go that is item by item case. Most stores will take anything back.

I already picked up a 40" TV and 3 of the 2TB drivers early this week that i will be getting a price adjustment on tomorrow. I did it on the 32" TV they had last year with no issues.

target does have a pretty generous return policy. I think it's 90 days. It makes little to no sense that they wouldn't take the item back so buying now to price-match later should work. As long as the price of the item is cheaper when you walk in (which would mean you still have to show up on BF), I see it working out for you.

100% sure. I mean, you could return and rebuy if you really wanted so a lot of stores might just "price adjust" but what it'll look like on paper is you returned one and bought another. Think about it this way, if I could buy something yesterday, and just walk in on BF and get a different price, what's the point of it (seeing as everything gets leaked a month in advance)? If I am wrong then so be it, that's just how I was trained there.

my brothers tv broke tonight. what do you think the chances are that my local target might have one of these in stock if i go there at opening tomorrow?

I would go now and see how the line looks. Most stores seemed to have 25-35 in stock. Well, before people like myself started buying them up early anyways.
