I just got a netbook, Acer Aspire One KAV-60

I want to max this thing ourt, I will use it alot.

I want to max out the ram
Possible SSD
CPU Upgrade if possible
Battery upgrade 9cell

So will I be able to upgrade the cpu on this thing?

The CPU isn't upgradable. It's an Atom n270 CPU right? It's soldered onto the motherboard. Max RAM it can take is probably 2GB.

If you need more power, it might more sense to get a bigger laptop.

Definitely go for a SSD. I just went with this one and it's so much faster and boosts battery life a little. Plus, you can be a little rougher on your netbook with a SSD because there's no real moving parts to break (to an extent).

Battery should be easy to upgrade. I have a 9cell in my Gateway netbook (as well as the SSD mentioned above) and i get about 10 hours, wifi on, usage.

Like 450 said, CPU can't be upgraded, but the ram can. Max ram for Atom cpus is 2gb. Just slap a 2gb stick in there and you're good to go!

hope that helps =]

Exactly what I am going to do. I found the ram on newegg for $37.99, Battery on the "bay" for like $35. Now I am going to look for a SSD.

Im diggin this little thing, after i get used to the keyboard

Sweet! Good finds! You could spend a few hundred on a SSD, but this is $300 netbook and I didn't want to spend a few hundred extra in upgrades. The ram was free cause I had it lying around, battery came with it, SSD was $99 on sale, and Linux is free!

I love the small keyboard. I have a Macbook Pro as well, and for typing long papers I the MBP is nicer because of the size and the amazing keyboard, but I'm totally fine with my netbook for chatting and casually typing papers and letters. Glad you are enjoying it!

What linux do you run? I have never checked linux out believe it or not. Thinking of checking out Ubuntu.

I traded an Itouch for the netbook. So I plan on putting about $125-$150 un this thing and i will be set

I feel the hard drive spinning. Im thinkin SSD is a must

I am currently running Ubuntu, but I usually use Arch Linux. If you want something to start on, I would say Ubuntu. Once you get a handle on it and the command line, definitely go for Arch.

Yeah, the only noise form my netbook is the fan spinning.. and you can *barely* hear it.

I'm not sure about the Acer parts and batteries. I have a Gateway netbook.

Define hot?
