It’s Official, The Beatles Are On iTunes

Any Beatles fan would have already bought tons of Beatles CDs and vinyls. Why should anyone buy a digital copy for more off of iTunes? Apple fails in many ways.

Don't, seriously, just don't. This already got a shitstorm started in the other Apple/The Beatles thread, so don't. The guy is entitled to his opinion, let it go and move on will ya?

I'm not trying to start any sort of fanboy war, I just don't understand why I need the box set. The Beatles don't bother me, neither does the fact that so many like them, I just haven't heard anything that would make me go out and spend the $ for it. Maybe I'm missing something? They don't fit my tastes, from what I've heard.

Serious question: Why?

Serious answer :
-They created the first real "concept album" with Sgt Pepper's...
-They were the first to use music videos to promote their albums (Hard days night, Help!)
-They are one of the most successful band of the 20th

Anyway if you don't like Beatles, nothing force you, there is no disgrace in this...

I believe anyone interested in music history should have this box set, or at least some Beatles album (Maybe Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper's, The white album or Revolver). Those albums are major leap in Rock Music history.

I don't mean by any mean that if you don't have those albums your don't know music... Music is often related to feelings, and feeling may differ alot from one person to another...

-No, they popularized the idea of a concept album. Before concept albums were only less mainstream.
-Hard Days Night/Help! were actually a full length films. They did do promo videos, though, which hadn't been done much beforehand.
-True.

I don't know, I will listen to some of their more psychedelic stuff to see if I like it, but the early days were too "Yeah, yeah, yeah" for me. I prefer something with a bit of grit, I like my artists to have suffered :)

Ah, see. I do enjoy learning about music history, and the influence is undeniable.

This is America. Every company makes ridiculous amounts of money by capitalizing on the average person's stupidity. That's basically what our economy is based on.

It's propaganda, but since it's not state-sponsored, instead just by a single company, it's legal.

And hey, I'm all for it. You can't change people, you can't make them smarter, better, not in this generation anyway. So the only thing you can do.. is make money off of them.

I love how everyone who does something other than what you do is considered stupid. What a sad distorted view you have.

Anyone who gave a shit about this music would have had it 10+ years ago.

and the entire time they said "come back for a big announcement!" I thought it was going to be the release of iOS 4.2

Did they have to wait until Michael Jackson's estate realized they needed more money before they decided to put the Beatles on iTunes?

In this case though, he's fairly correct that it would be rather stupid to pay $30-$50.00 more for an inferior product. Not a product made by another company where you could claim one has better reliability etc but actually an inferior product.

If you're unable to see the benefits of a digital version has over a physical version and how people can have a preference to the former, you're blind. It's the same reason people will often pay more for a steam version of a game over store version.

And it's not $30-$50 more, it's $20 more than the amazon version.

I still find them the cure to insomnia. Apple gets more free money from thir victi...consumers. Good for them.

itunes has 90% marketshare. This is like saying windows isn't relevant in the consumer pc market because you like linux better. The anti-fanboys here are amazing with their delusions.

Your data is ridiculously out of date. iTMS market share is 70% now. That's mostly due to Amazon selling tracks easier, cheaper and without that boat-anchor software known as iTunes.

And with an Amazon MP3 app on Android now, it's doubtful iTMS share will ever go back up to 90% again.

Dragonforce.

Yeah I miss it too....

Who uses iTunes?

Acquire CD from friend/used/swap meet/on sale rack
Rip to FLAC
Find album art on Google Images
Enjoy within foobar2000/media player of choice.

Oh and the Rolling Stones > Beatles

Ok, so then they're 2-3x bigger than their nearest competitor. Still by and far the largest distributor.

I hope they sell one copy. Beatles & Apple deserve that, to share at this success.
