Just something that's been bugging me for a while now.

I am distinctly right handed, there is no way i can use a spoon or butterknife with my left, however, when it comes to one hand operation with my phone and ipod, i seem to control it better with my left, and i'm more likely to drop it if i were to try using it with my right.

The Nokia phone i have a preference for my left, but i can still use either hand pretty well. The ipod on the other hand, i can hold better on my left, and keeps slipping on my right (The thing is harder to grip).

Come to think of it, when i make a call on our landline, i'm also holding the handset on my left. So i guess that may have influenced my habit.

I tend to switch based on what I'm doing - for example, when viewing adult material on my phone I'm forced to use my left hand to hold the phone.

Edit: Shoulda had an option for 'both'. I really do use either just fine depending on what's going on.

I hold my phone in my left hand and poke at it with my right and as KatalDT said this configuration makes masturbation easier.

I use either hand, depending on what I am doing when I pick up the phone.

hahahahaha

when i used to use a belt clip back in the 2000's i put it on my right side so i was entirely right handed. I don't know when it started but the phone started to go into my left pocket instead and now it's left handed. bluetooth is on the right ear tho and i rarely use the phone to answer anything since i have the bluetooth earpiece.

Indeed, i use both also. I don't really have a preference to which.

I thought i was ambidextrous too until i got an iPod. That's when i realized i was more of a leftie. I never really noticed which hand was holding the phone until i started dropping the iPod.

I don't have a smart phone, just a regular old cellphone
I'm instinctively right handed and so, I use my right thumb to press the buttons.

I agree that there should be an option for both. My phone is one of the few things that I do equally well with either hand.

As someone else here mentioned, I tend to hold my phone with my left hand and carry it on my left hand side.

My left hand, arm, and fingers & thumb are a lot more agile and mobile due to injuries I've suffered over the years to my right side.

I text and type on a keyboard a lot faster with my left than my right as a result as well.

...and people wonder why they put kickstands and hdmi outputs on phone.

Right handed with the phone closed, both handed with it open (Droid2).

Talking, I am usually right-handed, but if it's a very long phone call I switch hands every few minutes.

I've always kept my phones in a belt pouch on my right side, so that may be a contributing factor.

I guess i should have considered the kind of phone too. My right hand is stronger (Keypad), but my left has the dexterity (Touchscreen)

I don't have much preference to which hand is holding it, but I'm definately right-eared. I can barely hear if I try to use my left ear, yet my left ear works fine for everything else.

I voted left but will need to switch to the right because I am having a defibrilator/pacemaker put in next week and they told me no phone on the left side where it will be installed. I will have to use a land line for them to get info and check on it though.

This raises a good question. I use both hands actually, I don't know why. I would hold the phone on my right hand when I'm reading things and I hold it on my left when i'm like navigating and typing. It alternates since I'm using Swype with my Vibrant. I can type with either hand.

I actually use both hands when I'm using my keypad-based phone. However, I use my right hand when I use touch screens. I have a weak left hand and fingers. :p
