Call of Duty: Black Ops - Multiplayer Gameplay PC

This video recording feature looks like it'll be a lot of fun. I've seem some pretty bad ass community screen shots that people have uploaded.

I'm at work so I can't watch the video.

I've used FRAPS to record it, sadly, the Theater mode doesn't work for many people :( I hope it does get to work soon so I can just upload the videos from theater instead of using Fraps :p

Is there zero recoil even on the PC version? That would kill any chance of this being my first CoD game.

It looks like a cartoon. I bought it, but haven't installed it yet. I was expecting better graphics than this.

Looks good. I wish my theatre mode worked. It recorded my first two games I played, but hasn't recorded one since. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the game or a settings.

Either way, much like this OP, I'm having a ton of fun with the MP portion of the game. There are a few annoyances to me - mainly with the half functioning server browser, but once thats resolved I will be even more satisfied.

Theatre mode is a pretty cool feature. They need to improve on the rendering files though because I managed to render two edited clips I made and they are low quality 576 x 360 files 24 fps, so when you upload it to the tubes you can't even do a standard 480p video. As things are right now if you want to upload ur videos to youtube with high quality clips with higher fps and resolution you're better off using third party program like FRAPS.

Umm...There is lots of recoil in this game.

Maybe we have different definitions of recoil, or maybe I'm seeing it wrong. He seems to be holding down the trigger for more than 3 seconds and bullets are still going exactly where his crosshair is on the screen. By my definition, that is no recoil.

There is recoil. Maybe depends on gun I've only played a bit.

k, it looks like that's a smg, which I guess are supposed to be low recoil. I'd have to test it. I wish there were demos these days

In addition to the gun movement, does COD use a COF(Cone of Fire) as well?

Anyone still having lag/stutter problems in MP? It's a little better for me than on launch day, but I'm still stuttering pretty bad - though launch day was unbearable. Also, FPS isn't too nice. Probably 30-40 avg. Pretty disappointed in performance, what exactly did they do to the engine?

Also, here is a great sniper video I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWF2g5usaj8

I'm not having any issues to speak of. I'm enjoying the hell out of the MP. Single player was mehhhhh.

COD:BO is turbo mode compared to BFBC2.
The speed of it is hilarious. I'm not used to it anymore so it's going to take me some time to get back in the groove.

I've never liked the Call of Duty series multiplayer. They are all spray and pray with no strategy and the $60 price tag is garbage. Their not getting my money. Battlefield series is so much better.

Well I thought I would hate BO, but I was proved wrong. I am really enjoying the MP (skipped the SP altogether) and their point system for buying perks/guns etc....Very happy and paid $39.99 for the game. Totally worth it.

$39.99 ? WTF

I also paid 39.99, but in fucking pounds, fucking jerkoff asshole game.

Every year I say the same thing, "Fuck buying any more COD's" and every year I buy another one and get even more pissed off with myself.

Ya mine still runs like dogshit. Seems to be ok for the first game then gradually gets worse with each successive map. Memory leaks? The Nov 12 patch helped but the playability of the game still sucks. I still have lock ups, and a 40 second average wait to get into the game once it has loaded and I'm "waiting for other players". When I finally do get in the top few guys already have 4-5 kills. Specs below:

That's really odd. My system is very similar to yours and I've had pretty much zero problems since launch. Only a few FPS dips here and there... :) Maybe try reformatting?

Same here. Running much better than the first two days now since the patch. But I am still getting random lockups. Sometimes I can play for a couple hours no problem. Then sometimes it completely freezes my computer. These freezing issues started AFTER the patch :(

I am also getting around 40FPS on average with shadows and AA turned off and textures at medium. Doesn't make much sense to me because I have been playing CoD 4, CoD WaW, and CoD MW2 on the same setup with everything maxed! Graphics on this game don't seem much more intensive, so I am pretty sure this is something on their end messing with my FPS and not my system hardware being insufficient.

ALl in all though, I am digging on the game a LOT and hope they fix these issues. It blows MW2 away, and finally feels like the proper follow up to CoD 4.

agreed on every point but price :D (wish I paid 40.00 for it, I got it for 60.00 on steam)

I was a little skeptical at first, but decided to pull the trigger over the weekend and grab it. I'm glad that I did... BO is, hands down, one of the best MP games I've played in a while. I love the new balancing they've done with perks and guns. The've nerfed sniping a little which is a godsend and they've also gimped the amount of tubes and claymores scattered around. Oh, and running and diving rules :D

My only real gripe is dedicated servers (believe it or not lol). I jumped into a game on saturday night (nuketown ftw) and was tearing people up. After the first round ended, a bunch of noobs started calling me a cheater for 'hacking' and was soon perma-banned on the server. The same exact thing also happened a few hours later on another server. All in all though, it's been a great game

having a good time with the game, but like others im dissapointed with the performance. it doesnt even push my cpu to 75% and it only pushes my 460 to around 40%, but average fps is around 40 with 4x AA at 1680x1050. i get random lockups sometimes and there is the occasional stutter, maps take significantly longer for me to load than others in my clan, even guys with lesser systems than me. i may try reinstalling.

as to the recoil, it is there and some guns are worse than others. with an MP5 for instance you have to fight the gun to keep it on target, and most of the time you lose. honestly though this sounds to me like a "realism" gripe. there is a guy in my clan who has been whining about the realism of the game and generally being a pain in the ass since the game released. ill tell you what i told him: if you want realism go play modded arma 2. this game was created to be a balanced multiplayer experience, or at least that was the idea. if everything was completely realistic the good guys would have air strikes, helicopters, body armor, night vision, concussion grenades and the bad guys would have only a single ak47 with around 5 bullets to share with their whole team. i understand that the game uses real guns and attempts to provide some sort of realistic gameplay, but this is an arcade shooter. its meant to be fun not a simulation of real life.

Patch is in QA which boasts to have good performance improvements and other nice fixes for those that need them.

That's unfortunate. I assume the only reason my K : D ratio was any good was because other people had crappy performance. Mine has been fine since the first day.

I'm still having fps issues every time I shoot, throw a grenade, get shot at, etc. totally sucks. T ishis at lower resolution, no aa, no af. My rig runs mw 2 just fine perfectly, too.

True. The patch has been rumored to come out before the weekend. Hopefully this will fix the low frame rates I am getting, which are ridiculous for this game.

my games runs smooth as ice since they released that mini patch on steam, runnning @ max settings just get the minor lagg every once in a while. not the greatest game ever, but worth the $45 i paid for it

I was also having FPS issues. Turning off shadows, AA, AF and reducing textures to low/normal has made the game smooth as butter. Even with a lot of action going on, the frames rarely dip below 80.

If you're having problems getting it to run smooth, you can try this until a patch gets released.

True.

I do hope they fix my main issues:

- Random FPS drop to as low as 30 (With an HD5970, I mean seriously... Come on)
- Game freezing on Menu when initially started (Very common issue reported on Steam forums)
- Game crashing very often, specially after a map change (Windows 7 sound error, black screen, and when you minimize, you see a console window saying fatal error).

I had to lower my AAx8 to AAx4 to get the FPS above 60 all the time, with AAx8 it would be over 130fps all the time but some drops to 35 on random maps :(

Get the exact same problem on my 5850. It's fine 90% (fine = over 60fps) of the time but there are a few places on a couple of maps that cause it to drop to what looks like somewhere between 30-40 fps. I have a feeling it's a performance bug in the maps...

FYI I am running everything at max, 1920x1080, 4xAA. :)

Having suffered with being stuck at 60fps @ default settings I started juggling things around. Results so far are fps @ 150+ with these settings...

Some console commands that may help:

~ - type "com_maxfps 1000" - hit Tab - hit Enter - ~ escape

~ - type "cl_maxpackets 100" - hit Tab - hit Enter - ~ escape

Wow! Now if it only results in better scores lol...
